EventJot

International conglomerate Ricoh has small, aggressive software development team that is announcing an alternative to Color today called EventJot. EventJot, launching today in North America, launched a few days ago in Japan and honestly made a bigger splash than we expected. People seem to be responding to EventJot’s simplicity, EventJot is meant to do roughly the same thing as Color, but it does not use GPS data to connect strangers (this non GPS functionality appears to be a popular feature with folks – a little less "big brother-ish). A few tidbits:

- Thousands of people in Japan downloaded EventJot on its first day earlier this week
- Made Top 10 in the Japan App Store for Top Free iPhone social networking apps
