According to our text, (Nigosian, 2008 p.47-48) the rites and rituals of the Mesopotamian religion includes temple celebrations, sacrificial festivals, and occult practices. They classified the gods as good and evil. For many of us today, we believe in a loving god who is there to protect and guide us. We pray unto the Almighty, God who we deem as the controller of the universe. Like the Mesopotamian, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, his resurrection at various times of the year. Holy communion is also a part of my up bringing in that we would fast and then assemble together in one place, mostly known to all as a church or temple of worship and take part in holy communion, partaking of Jesus blood. The comparables between the two are somewhat similar in that we both celebrate the birth and resurrection of our God. The Mayans also fasted and prayed. ( Nigosian, 2008 p.87).

know you've been bullied continuously over the course of this school
year. I sympathize with you since I have been bullied before and I know
how it feels. You probably think that your tormenting situation would
last for an eternity, but I have come up with some advice from my past
experiences to help you to put an end to the bullying. You can tell a
trustworthy adult about the bullying; you can stand up tall and proud
and defend yourself with a serious tone; you should ignore everything
the bully says, they always want to belittle you to make themselves look
superior; finally you might want to talk to the bully about what makes
him want to hurt others. If
the bullying persists, tell a trustworthy adult. Believe it or not,
adults are always there for you. Adults can understand the bullying
situation better, therefore, they can implement appropriate punishments
for the offenders. You may think, "Telling an adult about your problems
would be a babyish act, since we are supposed to be the macho men" Yes, I
understand this. Trust me; this is an unavoidable step in preventing
future bully occurrence. The bully might tease you by calling you
"tattletale" or "weakling." Don't soak in these comments. Trust
yourself you are doing the best for both of you. Telling
trusted adults is a great way to end bullying, however, there are
multiple other ways that would also help to end your bullying. You can
stand up tall and proud and defend yourself in a serious tone. Now, you
might think that whimpering might be able to stop the bullying, since
you let the bully know that you're hurt. NO! If you whimper in front of
the bully, the bully knows he has accomplished his set goal. The bully
will think your whimpering is funny and will keep doing it. Try to
remember a repeat offender will give no mercy to anyone. Instead of
whimpering, confront the bully with a bold face and say, "Stop it." The
bully will know he could not gain any control or enjoyment out of his
actions and will most likely stop the harassment. If
the tormenting continues, pretend the bully is not there. Ignore him
completely. The bully will try to push you around. Don't pay any
attention to him. This way, you let the bully know he can't control you
or your life. I guarantee he will stop, when he doesn't get an
expected reciprocal response. The
bully might have personal experiences that would make him want to bully
other people. I read a book named Touching Spirit Bear. The main
character, Cole Matthews, has nobody to care about him. His father beats
him up cruelly, while his mother does not defend for him at all, and
let the beatings to continue. Cole finally let out his rage at a kid
named Peter by beating him up. It might be the exact same thing for your
bully. He might have been abused by a family member, or just nobody has
cared about him, so why should he care about anything else? The bully
wants to be in control, so he lets out his rage on weaker kids. Bullying
is a way that the offender is crying out for help, "I've been tortured.
I need help." Try talking to him about his problems and assist him to
find a solution to his difficulties. If the bully says he has problems
at home, then maybe he just needs some extra help. If the he does not
have problems at home and he is torturing people for the fun of it,
adults would be able to assign him an adequate amount of punishment for
him to realize that what he did is wrong and for him to repent to you
and never repeat his wrong actions again. I
understand that you are being bullied, I am very sorry about your
situation. I hope my suggestions will help you solve your dilemma. Keep
me in touch, and let me know. Hope to talk to you soon.Sincerely,Chris Chu Tue 27 Sep '11 · Flag
Gram-negative bacteria in the midgut and P.
falciparum sporozoites in
field-collected An. gambiae and An. funestus
from Kenya and Mali. In contrast, An.
funestus females harbouring Gram-positive bacteria were more susceptible to
sporozoites compared to those with no cultivable bacteria or with Gram-negative
bacteria (Straif et al., 1998). Gonzalez-Ceron et al. (2003) observed that
bacteria in midguts of field-collected An.
albimanus blocked P. vivax
sporogonic development influencing the parasite transmission in southern
Mexico. Lower P. vivax infection
rates were observed in mosquitoes co-infected with Enterobacter amnigenus 2, Enterobacter
cloacae, and Serratia marcescens with
higher mortality of S. Marcescens-infected
mosquitoes compared to controls (Gonzalez-Ceron et al., 2003). It has been
recently reported that the presence of Enterobacter,
a part of the naturally occurring microbial flora of the mosquito's gut, can
directly block the development of P. falciparum
(Cirimotich
et al., 2011). The bacterium
rendered wild An. gambiae populations
in Zambia resistant to infection with P.
falciparum (Cirimotich
et al., 2011). This
refractoriness was shown to be largely due to the generation of reactive oxygen
species interfering with parasite development and killing it before invading the
midgut epithelium (Cirimotich et al., 2011). This observation could be one possible reason
for the individual variability among mosquito populations belonging to of the
same species. Moreover, Enterobacter inhibited the growth of
about 99% of P. falciparum, both in the gut and in a test tube culture
with a greater impact of higher bacterial doses on Plasmodium growth (Cirimotich
et al., 2011). Tue 18 Oct '11 · Flag
