PeerIndex helps you discover the authorities and opinion formers on a given topic.

Your overall PeerIndex score is a relative measure of your online authority. This score reflects the impact of your online activities, and the extent to which you have built up social and reputational capital on the web.

At the heart of PeerIndex, there is the recognition that someone with authority on one topic, e.g. web development frameworks, may not have any interest or authority in another topic, e.g. brain disorders.

To remedy the issue, we have built up an authority fingerprint based on your public activities on a category-by-category level. We analyze as much data as you will share with us, including:

• Your social network: that is the people you friend or follow on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
• Content you share: we capture your public tweets and analyze the content.

We analyze several dozen factors and many hundreds (or potentially thousands) of data points to build your PeerIndex scores in the following way:

• Across the dozens of topics we track, we build scores for you on authority, activity, and audience.
• These topic scores are then aggregated against a series of benchmark topics to give you an overall Authority and Activity scores. We also provide an overall Audience score for you.
• Finally, your aggregate PeerIndex score is compiled based on your overall Authority, Activity and Audience scores across benchmark topics.
