Pheedr is a new web-based RSS reader that's designed to be readable.
Print and web designers spend a lot of time making sure that text is readable. They fuss over fonts, colour, line-height, kerning (letter-spacing) and size... all in an effort to create a pleasant, engaging reading experience. Tumblr made a name for itself with its clean, minimalist designs. Services like Instapaper and Readability turn cluttered web pages into clean, readable text for computer screens, mobile devices and e-readers.
So why do RSS readers look like email clients?
Every RSS reader I've ever used, stretches images and text as wide as my screen will allow. They have bars and panes that get in the way of content and this is supposed to be okay because the borders looks like brushed aluminum.
I created Pheedr because I'm sick of using ugly, cumbersome RSS readers that suck at the one thing they are supposed to facilitate: reading.
I built Pheedr for myself, but I hope others will find it useful.
