SHUURL

Making Safe Short URLs

SHUURL is a free short URL service with one BIG difference, other short url services simply redirect you to the shortened link with no regard for your computers safety.

At SHUURL we discovered the answer to this issue, with our service you get a screen shot of the link your about to visit, the actual link that has been shortened and most importantly a safety test which will tell you if the site is safe or not.

Daniel Great.. someone stealing my idea down to the key. You could of thought of your own idea... not just steal the idea from oinkurl.com Wed 18 Feb '09  ·  Flag
Deborah Here at Web of Trust, we have just discovered Shuurl too. It’s a great idea, and since they are using our rating widget, the ratings are up-to-date and reliable.

Just be careful when clicking on the icon beside the tiny URL, because they have set it up to take you to the site, and if it’s rated red, that’s exactly what you want to avoid! Clicking on the tooltip that says “View scorecard” will take you to the actual WOT scorecard for rating details.

Safe surfing,
Deborah

Keith Petersen This URL shortener would be more useful if the URL it generates did not include "www." ahead of shuurl.com. It would save 4 characters of space which could be put to better use for text in a twitter.com posting. Thu 19 Feb '09  ·  Flag
