Tagz

Social bookmarking site plus voting and threaded comments

At the very core, Tagz is a social bookmarking site, which the addition of voting and threaded comments. Simply put, Tagz allows you to save your bookmarks online and share it with your friends and the other users of Tagz. You could also choose to keep some (or all) of your bookmarks private in which case only you would be able to access them. Your bookmarks can be accessed from any computer, not just your own.

In addition to your bookmarks, you can also view links shared by others. You can also comment on links posted by you and others, also reply to comments posted by others. You can setup Tagz to notify you whenever someone comments on one of your links, when someone replies to one of your comments, whenever someone sends you a link or a message.

Besides commenting, every user can also vote on public bookmarks posted by everyone. We use these votes to rank links based on their popularity. Its simple, if you like a link, give it a thumbs up, if you don’t like it, give it a thumbs down. Of course, you can always refrain from voting on a link if you’re indifferent :)

Managing bookmarks this way quickly becomes awkward once you have more than a couple of dozen bookmarks. So, whenever you post a link, you can also describe it with as many tags as you’d want to. Tags are one word descriptors, quite like keywords. Unlike bookmark folders in your browser, tags are not hierarchical. There are no rules to assigning tags, you simply use words which best describe the link, so that you can quickly find the appropriate link if you can remember one of the tags.
