Twit2tel.com is an application that provides every Twitter user their own voicemail and ability to call any Twitter user without exchanging phone numbers. To awaken their Twitter voicemail, a user just needs to verify their Twitter account information in the sign up. The voicemail account links directly to their username. Users listen to their voicemails on the site and can download them to their computer. They can also link a phone number to their username, and begin leaving voice messages for any Twitter account. The Twit2tel call feature allows users to speak for 4 minutes to other Twitter users who have also linked phone numbers to their usernames. Because Twit2tel links the phone number to the Twitter username, no numbers ever need to be exchanged. All a user needs to leave a voicemail or call and talk is the username. Users can connect to anyone on Twitter by “tweeting” @twit2tel call . Our system receives this command, calls them, and then connects them to the username “tweeted” in the command. Twit2tel users can open their accounts to the entire Twitter community or close it only to those Twitter users they follow. They also have the option of blocking specific usernames or directing all calls to their Twitter voicemail.
