WinTheTrophy is changing the way sports are bet on in the U.S. by making it free, legal and social. It’s the first web game to combine elements of sports betting, fantasy sports, social gaming and crowdsourcing into one simple-to-use and incredibly fun experience.

Here’s how the game works:

Every week, users receive 1,000 units of fake cash called “chips” to wager on all major U.S. sports. Over the course of seven days, starting on Monday and ending on Sunday, users jockey to out-bet each other for the most chips and virtual trophies. Users who win the most-coveted trophies earn respect from the site’s community of sports pick’em fanatics.

Users who think they possess a superior algorithmic approach to sports betting can create automatic betting programs — called BetBots — using our API service. These user-programmed bots compete against other users in the community in a true Big Blue vs. Kasparov style.

While users engage in fierce competition, our site tracks each user’s personal betting stats in over 100+ betting intelligence categories. This info is offered completely free-of-charge, enabling users to identify their betting strengths & weaknesses, analyze personal betting trends and test new betting strategies —- all without going broke!

Users who demonstrate superior betting intelligence in one or more of the 40 betting categories (e.g., MLB AL East, NBA Western Conference) are granted Genius status. Once a Genius (no easy feat), users can earn easy money — 40% of the proceeds generated from the Genius Picks is paid to these expert pickers.

From the time users signup, they start earning virtual currency units called Points for performing actions such as recruiting a friend, placing a bet or leaving a comment. Users can redeem accumulated Points for a fun variety of functional and decorative virtual goods. For example, users can purchase an item called Juice that boosts the payouts they receive on their winning bets.

Already we’ve seen some incredible results on the site. One user hit an amazing 8-way parlay for 35,290 chips on September 8. Another, who goes by the username jdavis, is picking an unprecedented 88% (329-45-3) in NCAAB Moneyline. These guys are good!
