Beat Big Brother, become anonymous online and access restricted websites

ZenVPN Simple VPN service for...
Review posted Mon 26 May '14

We hear a lot of talk about websites like Facebook not taking our privacy seriously enough these days. The fact is, you really have to take things into your own hands if you want to protect yourself online. I guess the golden rules are...don't post stuff that you don't want others to see and always check your settings on a regular basis. The fact is, George Orwell was right - Big Brother is watching us. Whether they are taking notice of what we are doing is another matter but, given the Edward Snowden and NSA revelations of the last year ... Read more

Stream your PC content onto your mobile in real time

AirStream Stream PC over Air
Review posted Wed 5 Jun '13

So many of us are using our smartphones and tablets far more than we do our personal and work computers these days. With the advances in technology for those devices moving at such a rapid rate over the last couple of years their popularity has soared. In fact, with the aid of a good wifi and a few apps, they can almost become a second computer. But there are still some things on your computer that you can't view on your device unless you are prepared to use cumbersome and time consuming methods. AirStream is an app that lets you ... These notes will self destruct in ten seconds...

NoteShred The Easiest Way To Send...
Review posted Tue 16 Apr '13

We've all heard the classic "Mission Impossible" sound bite where, after the agents have listened to the taped message, it announces that "this tape will self destruct in five seconds." Well, NoteShred is the online equivalent of the time-sensitive message. After you have sent your private note, message or document to the recipient you can decide how long they can have access to it. It ensures that you don't have important or private information isn't just sitting in someone's email in box where it could be access by others.   You might have seen a couple of reviews that FeedMyApp ... Make sure that your photos don't end up where Weiner's did

iDelete iDelete, an awesome free app...
Review posted Sat 23 Mar '13

If iDelete had been around a few years ago, former US Congressman Anthony Weiner would probably still be reasonably anonymous...and still have his job. Weiner was caught after sending an explicit picture of himself to a woman in Seattle. The picture went viral and, pretty soon, his career was in tatters. He's not the only person who was been caught with their pants down when sending 'sensitive' pictures to 'friends.' A few months back saw the introduction of an app called Snapchat that went some way to solving the problem by having a time-sensitive self destruct option when sending racy ... Read more

Monetize and modernise your CAPTCHA's

Minteye Eye on the mark
Review posted Sat 26 Jan '13

I have to tell you that I hate those warped numbers and letters that websites often put on their page to verify that you are a human and not a robot. Those jumbled characters are known as CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) and you have to admire them in one way because they are a good security device. However, the amount of time I read them wrongly makes it a problem. Minteye is an app for marketers and advertisers that has come up with what appears to be a more sensible approach by ... Read more

Find your WiFi hot spots and cold spots in every room

NetSpot NetSpot 2 is the only...
Review posted Fri 2 Nov '12

I have this one area of my kitchen at home that is impossible to get any WiFi reception in. It's almost like there is a lead curtain around it because there is no logical reason why it should be the case. Now, I'm not sure I would rush out and grab an analytics application like this one for my apartment but, if we were talking about a business or hotel that relies on WiFi, there are certainly good reasons for using it. NetSpot is a WiFi analyzing app for Mac that allows you to draw a detailed map of your ... Read more

The first rule of Coworfing is to find cool and creative local people

Coworfing Find the best places to work...
Review posted Sun 29 Jul '12

The first thing i have to say about this social geolocalisation and networking application is remember the name because you might be hearing it a lot in the near future. Coworfing is a fascinating concept of an idea that encourages freelance workers and entrepreneurs to physically get together and share their cool workspaces with like minded individuals. But this is not simply an office space sharing situation. Coworfing aims to provide coworking spaces where ideas will flow, you can meet new creative people and get fresh viewpoints on your problems.   Coworfing is a place for freelancers, entrepreneurs, students and ...
