I'm sure most of us have someone around us who has some sort of trouble in sleeping at night. It's a very common problem that can be caused by any number of things from stress to simple teeth grinding. Many feel like they just have to put up with it and some will consult with their doctor and be subscribed a course of treatment that involves medication. Unfortunately, this could lead to a few side effects involving drowsiness and lack of clarity. Many swear by an exercise regime and eating oatmeal at night - a natural alternative that works for ... Review posted Tue 11 Jun '13  ·  1 comment

If nothing else, you have to commend the developers of this flight tracking iOS application for picking an absolutely brilliant name for air travel app. To be honest, I'm surprised that no one has used it before. The app was conceived at the Copenhagen Institute of Interactive Design as a concept iPhone app for logging flights. But in the subsequent year or so, it has evolved into a complete flight tracking app that deals with all your travel needs. From the time that you book your flight to the moment you land Flying aims to keep you informed with up ... Read more

A weather app that is more than special

Idol Forecast Bright weather app
Review posted Mon 10 Jun '13  ·  6 comments

I don't usually take a whole heap of notice of weather apps, to be honest. I mean, they are literally only going to tell you a few things. How hot or cold it is, whether there is some form of precipitation and how windy it is. There's not a whole lot more you need to know. But occasionally, an app comes along that transcends basic information because of its sheer beauty and Idol Forecast is one of those. It is a customizable weather app for iOS that features the most glorious 'Disney-quality' animated graphics that change as the weather changes. ... Read more

Save big dollars at the gas pumps with this comprehensive car app

Automatic Your smart driving assistant
Review posted Fri 7 Jun '13  ·  2 comments

We've seen plenty of car and travel apps over the years that can do everything from remembering where you parked your car to tracking gas prices but it's rare to see one that is quite as comprehensive as Automatic. You might have heard mention of this app on a few US news programs of late with one commentator saying that Automatic could do for driving what the iPod did for music. So, what exactly can this app do for the US motorist? Well, it indeed can tell you where you parked you car and track gas prices but Automatic's main ... Read more

AirStream Stream PC over Air
Review posted Wed 5 Jun '13  ·  7 comments

So many of us are using our smartphones and tablets far more than we do our personal and work computers these days. With the advances in technology for those devices moving at such a rapid rate over the last couple of years their popularity has soared. In fact, with the aid of a good wifi and a few apps, they can almost become a second computer. But there are still some things on your computer that you can't view on your device unless you are prepared to use cumbersome and time consuming methods. AirStream is an app that lets you ... Being a bit of a news junkie myself, I always sit up and take notice when there's a release of a new news application on the market. Van Gogh Art Essentials Van Gogh Art Essentials –...
Review posted Thu 30 May '13  ·  23 comments

I'll never forget watching the excellent Jodie Foster directed film Little Man Tate and hearing the boy's analysis of Vincent Van Gogh's painting 'Irises.' When asked why the Dutch impressionist master had painted just one white iris in a sea of blue ones, he said simply "because he was lonely" and that changed my whole perception of the painting and I fell in love with his art forever. Van Gogh Art Essentials for iOS brings art to the app store with this virtual museum of Vincent's work that contains hundreds of his masterpieces in high definition as well as detailed ... Read more

Can Hipstamatic rise from the dead and eclipse Instagram

Hipstamatic Oggl A Community Of Creative...
Review posted Tue 28 May '13  ·  25 comments

Given the amount of dithering around that Instagram has done since its acquisition by Facebook, it was really only a matter of time till someone came up with a credible alternative. However, rather than some 'new kid on the block' coming along to try and steal the almost iconic photosharing app's thunder, it is an old foe that has re-emerged. For all you newbies, Hipstamatic was the bees-knees before the Instagram revolution took hold and here it introduces its own photo sharing app for iOS known as Oggl (as in 'oggling' at photos, I guess.) This simple to use and ... Read more

The Doors' music isnt quite over yet

The Doors App The only official Doors app
Review posted Mon 27 May '13  ·  37 comments

There was a period in my life in my teens when I listened to The Doors album LA Woman every day for a year or so. It's a long story so I won't bore you with the reasons but, to this day, I know every single musical nuance of that record. So it a pleasant surprise to see this new official iPad app being released by their record company, Warner Brothers, and compiled by their former boss - Jac Holzman. The Doors App is a music application that was put together by Holzman while he was gathering material and readying ... Read more
