The first online and in-person game to use GIFs to get your message across

YIX Cards Against Humanity with...
Review posted Sun 13 Jul '14

It's not easy to come up with an original game concept these days. YIX is a new game for iOS that actually manages to come up with something a little bit different to keep us amused. Well, to be honest, you can't really call this entertaining and very social game truly original because it's origins lie in games like Cards Against Humanity and Apples To Apples but, with it's use of animated GIFs rather than cards, it offers a unique take on a fun and often hilarious piece of entertainment that you can play with family and friends.   The ... Review posted Tue 8 Jul '14

The Tower Defense (TD) style of video game is a sub-genre of real time strategy games where the idea is to try to stop an invading force from making inroads into your territory by using various fighting methods - and anything else you can get your hands on. I guess the genre began when Atari introduces the game Rampart way back in the early 90's. The graphics have changed a lot over the years but the gameplay is basically pretty similar. Hero TD - Ancient Continent is a multiplayer online role-playing game for Android, Blackberry10 and iOS that proves to ... Read more

Review posted Wed 2 Jul '14

Happy2Help is probably one of the most philanthropic community based applications for iPhone that we've seen this year. Whilst others offer simple, commercial operations, this one gives you a chance to improve your karma in the world by offering a helping hand to other users. Happy2Help is a social community that allows you to offer or receive help no matter whether it be learning a language, getting help with your homework or anything else you may need help with.   Happy2Help is an iPhone app that makes it easy for anyone to offer and receive help. It could be in ... Read more

Try to find the treasure in the mystery house by solving clues and riddles

The Hidden Treasure of Nahala The Hidden Treasure of Nahala...
Review posted Mon 2 Jun '14

It must have been my growing up in a household that was stacked with Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes novels that led to my love of a genuinely good  'whodunnit' mystery. I used to love trying to figure out who the dastardly murderer was or who stole the jewels from some stately mansion. Then along came the Cluedo board game and it went to another level. The thought of Mr Mustard bludgeoning someone to death with a hammer in the kitchen still haunts me. Things changed inexorably though when fully interactive games like Myst and, later on, Syberia were unleashed ... Read more

Review posted Thu 22 May '14

Do you know the thing that turns a good game into a great one? It's a game that looks simple enough for you to win...but isn't. All the most successful games are like that. Candy Crush Saga and Tetris as well as the Angry and Flappy Birds all come to mind. They look so darned simple that you give it a go. An hour or so later you're wondering how you haven't managed to master it yet. Another hour and you're totally addicted to it. Smack Cars is one of those games. On the face of it, what could be ... An online game that is better than the original

BackgammonAce BackgammonAce: Reach the Top...
Review posted Tue 20 May '14

Along with Go and Chess, Backgammon is reckoned to be one of the oldest games in existence. It was originally thought to have been played about 5,000 years ago and seems to have originated in what today we call Iraq - though it was then known as Mesopotamia. Equally, real-time online backgammon play was just as quick off the mark with the first internet backgammon server coming online being established in 1992. However, the online game has come a long way since those days. BackgammonAce is an exciting, fast and free game application for iOS and Android that turns the ... Read more

Review posted Sun 11 May '14

I guess the best way to describe a heat map is probably to think of it as a table or a spreadsheet. Rather than detailing information with numbers, however, heat maps highlight the same information but use colors instead. This makes it clearer and easier for experienced users to analyze certain aspects of information. Read Heat is an education application that uses this technology to better analyze students to see how they react and respond to questions posed in the new Common Core standards testing. It aims to find out more about how students respond to the latest formats of ... Read more

Big business has whole departments to follow up on any business leads in order to take them to fruition. Review posted Wed 7 May '14

I really don't wanna appear to be some crazed grammar and spelling freak here but, I have to admit, there's little that get's my goat up more than poor spelling and grammar on the Internet. I'm sure we've all seen memes on our Facebook feed begging people to acknowledge the difference between there, their and they're. That’s just the half of it. The thing is, standards in spelling have dropped over the years - probably because of a change in scholastic emphasis and, let's face it, bad Internet habits. Many would rather play a mindless online game than spend some ... Read more

The $156 million dollar artist that many have never heard of

Review posted Sat 3 May '14

valuable painting in the world a few years ago, it turned the art world on it’s head. The reason for this was that it wasn't painted by Van Gogh, Picasso, Rembrandt or even Bacon. It was a painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt and it catapulted this lesser known artist into the big league. However, his work is still not appreciated anywhere near enough outside the critics and his loyal fans. My Guide to Gustav Klimt is a beautiful looking Android art application that offers an appreciation of this great artist's work that has been put together by long ... Read more
