A new kind of news in 20 second sound bites

Headliner App Streaming video news
Review posted Sat 26 Dec '15

How many times do you hear it these days? The news is too serious. It's depressing. Whether it be terrorist bombs, street shootings or violent Black Friday fights, it almost makes you wanna turn off the news and watch "Two and a Half Men." Well, maybe I'm stretching it a little there but i'm sure you know exactly what I mean. In actual fact, more and more people are turning to their mobiles to catch up on the news rather than the traditional TV nightly versions. However, if the truth were known, even mobile news leaves a little to be ... Read more

There was a time when folks used to always have a small notebook or a diary tucked away in their pocket wherever they went. It was vital to keep a note of all those important things like phone numbers and addresses and to write stuff down that you didn't want to forget. At home they might keep a scrapbook to paste in photos and the like or a travel log if they'd been on vacation. I wonder if anyone does that stuff anymore - especially when you can keep all that stuff and more on an app for your iPhone ... Read more

Simple, interactive and beautiful code sharing that wont cost you a penny

CodePile Easily share Piles of code
Review posted Wed 18 Nov '15

The first thing I should come clean about regarding the sharing of codes is that I'm really no expert on the subject. However, i have done a fair bit of research in the last few days and one thing is certain. While it looks incredibly complicated, it seems that it's a hell of a lot easier when you have the right tools to do the job. There are plenty of code sharing apps on the market - Github, Pastebin, Pastie, Bitbucket and Google Code are the obvious ones. Some of these offer a simple cut and paste option and some ... Over 500 different social network communities under one roof

Meet (the app) People like you, near you.
Review posted Tue 17 Nov '15

While few of us are one-dimensional there are usually one or two things that tend to dominate our main interests in life. Some of us are artists, some consider ourselves thespians, some are football fans and some have much deeper things as the central issues in our lives. As effective as they are, the big social media outlets like Facebook really only offer us an overview of our lives and one finds oneself having to find one's own niche areas within it's walls. Dedicated boutique social media sites, on the other hand, tend to be more serious minded but haven't ... Read more

If there's one word that comes to mind regarding our online activities over the last few years it is security. Not only are there people from as far as the Ukraine and China trying to access our private information but there's also been plenty of occasions when friends, family and co workers have felt the compulsion to see what we are up to on our devices. I've lost count of the number of times that I've seen an embarrassing post on a friend's social media account which has obviously been entered by someone other than themselves when they have left ... Review posted Sat 29 Aug '15

I guess that, if you had to nail Why.Not? down, you could call it spam in reverse. But there's a big difference between this new social networking app for Android and old school information sharing. Here, you have total control over the content and information that you access and interacting with. Why.Not? let's us see all the interesting events and people that surround us but gives you the opportunity to see them on our terms and under our control. What's more, you can deal with your interactions immediately because they are only visible for one day. Unless you want to ... Read more

Many years ago, one of the great things about going to your local bar or pub was to discuss and debate the issues of the day. Unfortunately, we seem to have lost that interaction of late. Not only are our 'watering holes' closing down at a faster rate than DVD stores, it takes some effort to hold a decent conversation over the sounds of one arm bandits and bad music. These days, the Internet has taken over when it comes to discussions about news and current affairs. Only trouble is...many newspapers are charging a subscription fee if you want to ... Read more

A modern day Cyrano de Bergerac for your pocket for texting success

Review posted Sun 9 Aug '15

Much of the stigma has gone out of using online dating apps over the last couple of years. In fact, according to a major recent survey in the US, one in ten of the serious relationships that started in the last decade actually originated from online contact. But as this new way of meeting people comes to the fore, there is also a need to understand that there is a right and a wrong way to communicate textually in a way that encourages the other person. If you don't have the confidence to verbalize on your own then you might ... Read more

Review posted Thu 6 Aug '15

Are you one of those people who seem to be just that little bit behind everyone else when it comes to content on social media? Do you find that you are always 'second-best' when it comes to posting news items? If that's the case, then maybe you need a better news aggregator to feed you up-to-date stories and to make you 'top dog' on your social network. Trigger is a rather sociable news aggregator for both iOS and Android that hand picks and delivers content to you an hour or so before anyone else can get their eyes on it. ... Read more
