MeetMusic Musicians around you
Review posted Tue 1 Apr '14

It wasn't too many years ago that, if you were a musician, you could rock up to any number of pubs or bars with your instrument and find a whole bunch of other cool musicians to play or jam with. The downturn in the economy and the introduction of distractions like poker machines put paid to that in many cities around the world but there are still plenty of places where it is still possible to strap on the guitar and rock it out with the best of em. MeetMusic is a cool, free music application for iOS and Android ... Read more

A mobile diary so you dont forget your raving times

Review posted Wed 26 Mar '14

When I was in my teens I went to so many gig sit is hard to remember them all but there was a period there of a year or so where I listed every single band that I saw in a diary. I think it came to about 385 if I remember rightly. I wish I had kept that diary. You'd have to spend a small fortune to see that many bands these days with current gig prices. I guess the modern day equivalent of that is the 'rave' music scene but, with so many punters being under the influence ... Read more

Many may have scorned the 3D role playing adventure games that have cropped up over the last few years but i bet there wouldn't be many of those same wowsers and naysayers who would have thought that games like Tomb Raider and Myst would lead us to an app like this 3D event designer. It wasn't so long ago that everything surrounding an event you were attending would be shrouded in reams and reams of paper, books, pamphlets and even the occasional DVD to keep you up to date with everything that was going on. But, let's face it. The only good thing about that would be the free bag that housed all your paperwork...and the free pen. You might even get a baseball cap, if you were lucky. These days, it's all changed. Apps are the things that inform and engage attendees in this day and age...and they are getting slicker and smarter. ... Read more

A better way of negotiating your car deal

AutoSwan Hassle free car buying
Review posted Mon 1 Jul '13  ·  91 comments

I have to admit that one of the better things I ever did when I was thinking of buying a used car was to hire a 'broker' to find me the one  that I was looking for. What usually happens is that I trudge off to the car markets on a Saturday morning with a fixed idea in my head of exactly the car I want. Not twenty cars...not ten...just this one car that I have set in my head that is the perfect car for me. Naturally, that car doesn't really exist and it usually ends with my heading ... Read more

Gablit is a new entertainment and recommendation, social search engine, born out of London a few years back, when three entrepreneurial types realized one night when they had lost their mobile phone, that trying to find the best entertainment available was turning into a full time job. They decided to develop this classy, informative, localized entertainment guide that encourages entertainers to promote their event and  gives the audience a place to find out everything that is going on around them or wherever they are planning on visiting.   Gablit solves a problem that people often find themselves having to deal ... London is a very big city and on any given week there is something like 600 concerts to choose from featuring everything from Irish folk to top 40 to the very best classical orchestras in the world. There's also around 30 different theatrical performances playing not to mention the 11000 bars and restaurants at your disposal. So if you are a visitor to the 'Big Smoke,' as it used to be known, it's almost a full time job to research where to go. You could pick up a copy of Timeout and a bunch of other mags or log on ... Review posted Sat 9 Feb '13  ·  40 comments

Secretly, whether we like to admit it or not, there is a little bit of voyeurism in most of us. We want to know what is happening around us. It might be listening into someone's conversation about the restaurant they ate in last night or hearing someone else's opinion about a new store that has just opened. But eavesdropping in on other people's conversations is probably not the best or the most reliable way of finding out what is being said. Evzdrop (which is pronounced eavesdrop) is a new type of app that lets you tap into what people are ... Read more

Review posted Thu 17 Jan '13  ·  12 comments

The last third of Cameron Crowe's much maligned minor classic movie "Elizabethtown" features a lengthy road trip for Orlando Bloom's character Drew. It's a fabulous and classic road trip that he undertakes and one that has inspired many to take that same trip. The travel story is mapped out beautifully by his new friend Claire and takes him from from Louisville Kentucky down to New Orleans via all sorts of fascinating places on the way. Gazettr is a new travel application that draws on the same passion and enthusiasm that Claire's road trip gave to Drew. It's a place to ... Read more
