Religion in general gets a pretty bad rap these days, doesn't it? Some say that it's on the decline. While a recent Gallop survey suggests that 40% of Americans go to church on the weekends, figures from the church itself put that figure at closer to 20%. That doesn't make it any less relevant to the way of life of millions of people around the world, though. I think it was comedian Steve Martin who said in the film "Grand Canyon" that "the answer to all life's problems are in the movies." Well, to many, the answer to all of ... Read more

If i asked you which was the more popular entertainment for American families between major league sporting events, theme parks and museums, my guess is that you wouldn't pick museums. They have long been considered to be a bit old hat and stodgy and full of nothing but ancient relics. Surely no kid would want to see that, would they? Well, according to a 2011 study, there are over 850 million visits to museums each year. That's just about the same amount as the other two put together. Museums are actually very popular, it seems. A new kind of social network that already has 4 million users

Taptrip Taptrip - Make the world...
Review posted Thu 26 Nov '15

If I told you that there was a social network out there that had over 4 million users across 250 countries and regions and you've never heard of it, my guess is that you'd be a little surprised. I certainly was when I first came across Taptrip. This free social network for Android connects you with new friends from all over the world via photo posting and chat. Thats all very well, but how does one get across the language barriers, you're probably asking? Well, Taptrip automatically translates your posts into any of 17different languages, enabling seamless communication with your ... Read more

While few of us are one-dimensional there are usually one or two things that tend to dominate our main interests in life. Some of us are artists, some consider ourselves thespians, some are football fans and some have much deeper things as the central issues in our lives. As effective as they are, the big social media outlets like Facebook really only offer us an overview of our lives and one finds oneself having to find one's own niche areas within it's walls. Dedicated boutique social media sites, on the other hand, tend to be more serious minded but haven't ... Read more

I was just saying to a friend the other day that, apart from singing Stevie Wonder songs, I seem to come up with some of my better ideas in the shower in the morning. I don't think I've managed to solve world peace in there yet but I think most of the things I come up with have more merit than anything that any of the Republican Party presidential candidates have come up with so far. Taking my ideas to the next level is the tricky bit though. How nice it would be to be able to take one or ... Read more

A simple and effective app to help prevent parking tickets

Parking dot RIP Parking.RIP makes parking...
Review posted Mon 9 Nov '15

Is there anything more frustrating and completely pointless for a motorist than getting a parking fine? We all know that half the time it's simply a revenue earner for the company or local jurisdiction and it doesn't seem to matter too much whether you are one minute or one hour over your time limit. Parking inspectors take little notice and the fine seems to be exactly the same. Parking.RIP is a new GPS based app for Android and iOS that helps in a number of ways and makes parking fines history. I've often wondered, you know. What exactly is it that turns a good app into a viral sensation? Over the years we've reviewed all the great free social apps upon release here at the FeedMyApp offices. Some, like Pinterest, Vine and Snapchat, were pretty obviously going to succeed. Others, like Flipboard, were not quite so obvious. The one thing they do need is a fair bit of luck. Given that wee bit of that luck, here's one that looks like it has all the right ingredients to hit the big time and be a mainstay in the app world over ... Read more

Keep up with all your favorite sports in one easy-to-read stream

SEAT77 The Eye of the Sports Fan
Review posted Fri 23 Oct '15

Ahh yes...sports fans! Are there any crazier and more passionate individuals than the folks who follow sport. I think it was Ted Turner who once said that sport was like a war but without the killing and he wasn't far wrong there. A friend of mine in England once told me that, no matter where you are in the world, if you can hold an informed conversation about sport with someone you've only just met, you'll have a friend for life. Fans will scour the Internet to find any information they can about their favorite sporting team but it's pretty ... Read more

A new way to meet friends and find out what's going on around you

AskMob Ask, Share and Meet People...
Review posted Tue 6 Oct '15

A while back we reviewed a crowd-sourcing app called InAWord Reviews that asked people from all over the world their opinions on everything from movies to restaurants in just a word or two. Now here’s an app that takes the completely opposite approach to information gathering. Rather than reaching out to the world in general, AskMob is a new social tracking app for iOS and Android that concentrates on the people directly around you. It aims to find out what people in your local area are thinking about and what they are getting up to but only deals with people ... Read more

Review your favorite things in just a word or two and share your opinions with your friends

In a Word Reviews Review anything, in a word
Review posted Tue 22 Sep '15

When you ask a friend what they thought of a movie, a book or a restaurant they've visited, the chances are the first thing will say will be short and sweet. Their first response will often come down to something simple like "it's great" or "it's rubbish" before going on to describe it in more detailed terms. While its hardly a detailed response, once they've delivered those fateful initial couple of words, your mind will be made up pretty quickly as to it's worthiness. As the Impressions once sang..."First impressions are lasting impressions..." Read more
