Get locals to tell you what's good through social networks

Sooligan You're not a hooligan, you're...
Review posted Thu 9 May '13  ·  13 comments

I have a friend who runs a cafe locally and I checked out the online reviews for the place the other day. They varied from ultra-complimentary (probably written by themselves) to ultra-critical (probably written by people from rival cafes.) To be quite honest, it didn't tell me much about the place. The whole concept of reviews needs to be thrown back on the people that matter most - customers - and Sooligan is a social review site with a difference. It takes it's 'reviews' from the comments on the pages of social media to give you a much broader overview ... Read more

Listen to what your social interest network has to say

Evzdrop Welcome to the new interest...
Review posted Sat 9 Feb '13

Secretly, whether we like to admit it or not, there is a little bit of voyeurism in most of us. We want to know what is happening around us. It might be listening into someone's conversation about the restaurant they ate in last night or hearing someone else's opinion about a new store that has just opened. But eavesdropping in on other people's conversations is probably not the best or the most reliable way of finding out what is being said. Evzdrop (which is pronounced eavesdrop) is a new type of app that lets you tap into what people are ... Read more

PriceItBuy The first social network to...
Review posted Wed 6 Feb '13

Your local Main Street retailer isn't going to like hearing this but there are an awful lot of items that can be bought at much cheaper prices in other countries rather than at your local shopping complex. And while it may not be particularly good for the local economy, if you spent a bit of time shopping around online you can probably find your item at a better price in a store in a different country. The problem is, though...how do you get hold of your item after you've found it? PriceItBuy takes your online shopping social by connecting you ... Read more

The last third of Cameron Crowe's much maligned minor classic movie "Elizabethtown" features a lengthy road trip for Orlando Bloom's character Drew. It's a fabulous and classic road trip that he undertakes and one that has inspired many to take that same trip. The travel story is mapped out beautifully by his new friend Claire and takes him from from Louisville Kentucky down to New Orleans via all sorts of fascinating places on the way. Gazettr is a new travel application that draws on the same passion and enthusiasm that Claire's road trip gave to Drew. It's a place to ... Read more

Review posted Wed 26 Dec '12  ·  1 comment

The whole concept of coupon shopping has changed a bit over the years. For the uninitiated, coupons are discounts given away by companies as a form of promotion and are particularly prevalent in the US. These days they are used more often by the more price conscious who have turned coupon finding into a bit of an art form. Coupons at Checkout is a very useful lightweight browser extension application that saves you heaps of time by organizing your coupons and presenting them for use at any of your favorite online retailers. And with so many online retailers offering discount ... Read more

Review posted Thu 20 Dec '12  ·  10 comments

I wonder how many of you know what's going on in terms of entertainment in your city tonight. You'll probably think you have a pretty good idea but it's actually fairly difficult to get a grip on the multitude of events that are happening every night in a major city unless you buy an evening newspaper, the local 'whats on' guide and then check a few local Internet sites. Wikido is a very flexible  geolocalization-based entertainment search engine that hunts down all the entertainment in your city from countless websites whether it be a concert, a rodeo or sports event. ... Review posted Sat 10 Nov '12

In an ideal shopping and retailing world Pickn'Tell would probably be the perfect role model for a successful shopping experience. This shopping application gives mobile customers a complete and comprehensive shopping experience while giving retailers the perfect advertising medium to not only have total contact with their audience but also to analyze the results afterwards. Pickn'Tell is a location-based app specifically designed for fashion lovers and fashion retailers where the customer can share their retail experience with friends using video and photos via your phone camera or with in-store digital mirrors.   Pickn'Tell is a location based mobile service that ... POCode Your Personal Address Anywhere
Review posted Tue 25 Sep '12

While GPS is a marvelous thing there are times in life where it's not quite enough to get you to the place you are looking for. In a business sense, it is vitally important that your customers can find you easily. POCode was designed originally when the developers were having a meltdown while trying to find a potential customer using only their GPS to find them. They longed for a map or some other foolproof way of locating their destination and came up with the idea of POCode. Think of it like this. If there are barcodes for things to ... Read more

Loc.Book Remember all the important...
Review posted Mon 3 Sep '12

Look, I have to tell you, Loc.Book was undoubtedly developed with people like me in mind. It's not that I get lost on a regular basis but, put me in one of those massive Westfield type multilevel shopping complexes that was probably designed by that Gruen fellow, and I'm a complete mess. Half the time I can't even remember which floor the shop I want to visit is on let alone it's location. I could use the store locator, I guess, but I could also use an app like Loc.Book to find my way back directly to the store I'm ... Read more

Sunlize Share and spread anything...
Review posted Fri 31 Aug '12

The way you share information through your social network can, at times, be a little flawed. It's all very well if the story you are trying to tell is specific to your social friends but what about if you want to get your message across to people in your local area for advertising or promotional purposes? You could fiddle with your Facebook settings and send your message to local friends and hope they pass it on or you can turn to something a little more specific. Sunlize offers a different way of spreading the word through your local area and ... Read more
