Review posted Fri 2 Dec '11

Getting together with a bunch of chums to buy a gift for one of the crowd is always a good idea. That is until it comes to crunch time and money has to change hands. People forget or suddenly don’t have the cash and you’re left holding the baby. If this scenario sounds familiar then you could make your life a whole lot easier by setting up a gift account with Let’s Gift It. This great looking app will take away the strain of getting everyone who committed to the cause to pay up. What’s more even if some of your ... Read more

Staff scheduling done well

Rotaville Rota Software Weekly Rota Management and...
Review posted Fri 2 Dec '11

Of the many weekly shift scheduling apps out there this one certainly looks to be up there with them as far as functionality goes with drag and drop features making the operation stress free and fast. If you’re still plotting your staff’s workload on a spreadsheet and then pinning it to the noticeboard you really should take a look at rotaville. You can still print out a copy of the weekly schedule if you like but with a good level of collaboration available on this system there are better ways to notify staff. Read more

This isn’t a bog-standard online diary

Mabame Online Journal and Album
Review posted Fri 2 Dec '11

Here’s a great idea, how do you fancy having your own website completely dedicated to your life and how you’re living it? Mabame will give you just that and you needn’t worry, it won’t come up in internet searches for all the world to see. You can of course share it with the friends of your choice but even then you’ll be in charge of what they can and can’t see. Read more

Annoy 25 people per week - for free!

AutomatedCalls Easy, Free Mass Notification...
Review posted Fri 2 Dec '11

If you’re looking for a free way to annoy people with one of those pre-recorded telephone calls then this is the place for you. Unfortunately you’ll only get the pleasure of annoying 25 people a week with the free version so if you’re bent on disturbing greater numbers of the public you’ll have to open your wallet. Automatedcalls.com does exactly what it says on the tin and has been doing so for a few years now. In its defense it does state in the FAQ section that it does not allow unsolicited sales or marketing calls or texts but it’s difficult ... Read more

Another personal finance tracker - but does it cut the mustard?

Finance41 Free personal finance
Review posted Thu 1 Dec '11

As one of many personal finance trackers I have to say I’ve seen tidier looking examples than this one that apparently uses "cutting edge technologies to create the greatest user experience." I’ve no doubt it will do a job for you and it’s free so playing around with its functions is probably a good idea and you can do that without actually creating an account. I’d certainly recommend this course of action because the screenshots and advice given when you click on "help getting started" are not the clearest instructions you will ever read. Read more

Timetable and list freaks - you might get a kick out of this

Fasterplan Easily plan, manage and...
Review posted Thu 1 Dec '11

It’s difficult to know how to approach this one really, as an app the features look fine with clear screen pages and it’s all pretty thorough. To be honest though if I had a bunch of friends that needed this much organization just for a night out at the cinema I think I might be tempted to try and find some new ones. It’s not just for the cinema of course as you can use fasterplan to organize any type of get together with your chums. Not only can you suggest an activity but you can give them a whole host of options ... Read more

A welcome addition to any educational establishment

Attendance Online College management software...
Review posted Thu 1 Dec '11

Don’t let the name of this one fool you. If you thought it was merely an alternative to the old school register then you need to take a closer look. It does have an updated version of that function of course but it also has a host of features that make it an all-round campus management system. Whether you run a school, college or university it will help you streamline a lot of the processes that have historically taken up valuable teaching time. What’s more it has a level of collaboration attached to it that enables students and their parents to ... Read more

Look after your home...in an organized sort of way

HomeSpot HQ The best way to maintain,...
Review posted Wed 30 Nov '11  ·  1 comment

I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of it, rummaging through drawers when trying to find the instruction manual or guarantee for the kitchen appliance that’s just decided to stop working. To be honest I still am guilty of it and this app was clearly developed with people like me in mind. Having said that, anyone who has perhaps been more organized historically and kept all of their home maintenance information filed neatly away will still find this app more than useful. Review posted Wed 30 Nov '11

If looks are anything to go by then this one is right up there in respect of the visual impact that the various dashboards project. If you run a business and are fed up with having to decipher the spreadsheets provided by your departments then there is a very good chance that what you want can be found here. In fact you don’t even have to be running a business to make use of bittle-solutions, just a desire to see your data analysed and presented in a dashboard format. Read more

This workforce scheduler wins with its level of collaboration

SkedX Scheduling evolved
Review posted Wed 30 Nov '11

This workforce scheduler does a bit more than just that and with its high collaborative aspect should engage the whole team. From a pure scheduling perspective the app has everything you’ll need to ensure you have the right numbers in the right place at the right time. A weekly view shows exactly who’s down for each shift and as an administrator you can click on individual names to see their available hours per day along with their hourly rate. Any changes or updates to schedules are emailed to all staff involved. Read more
