The first online and in-person game to use GIFs to get your message across

YIX Cards Against Humanity with...
Review posted Sun 13 Jul '14

It's not easy to come up with an original game concept these days. YIX is a new game for iOS that actually manages to come up with something a little bit different to keep us amused. Well, to be honest, you can't really call this entertaining and very social game truly original because it's origins lie in games like Cards Against Humanity and Apples To Apples but, with it's use of animated GIFs rather than cards, it offers a unique take on a fun and often hilarious piece of entertainment that you can play with family and friends.   The ... Get social while you find great new movies

movienr Discover movies socially
Review posted Fri 6 Jun '14

It seems to get more and more difficult to find a really good movie these days - especially if your taste runs to more than multi million dollar blockbusters that seem to dominate the multiplexes. There used to be the local DVD store down the road that would always have someone working that knows their stuff but they are few and far between in the digital age. So there needs to be another knowledge base of good films to tap into that ensures that lesser known masterpieces like Donnie Darko and Cloud Atlas don't slip through the cracks. We've seen ... Record and interpret your dreams as you type

DreamTagTell Record & Explore with...
Review posted Sun 27 Apr '14

It's kinda rare for me to remember my dreams at night past that first ten minutes when I wake up in the morning. It seems so vivid at first but then it just seems to disappear as your mind grasps for more... like smoke in a breeze. I do remember a particular one recently where I was booking into an elevated hotel in the mountains of Nepal with a friend and my two cats. The fact that the friend was the girlfriend of a good friend of mine just made it more complicated - but, that's another story. They say ... Read more

Review posted Tue 25 Mar '14

We all have bad days from time to time but sometimes they are difficult to put into words. Sure, you can tell your friends that you woke up with a bad headache and the cat had thrown up in the kitchen and you missed the train to work but it does seem like a bit of a whinge when you see that on your favorite social network first thing in the morning. As the old saying goes...a picture tells a thousand words. Hellfie is a photo sharing app that turns into a social network for those moments when only a ... Read more

A convenient and fun way of geolocating your travel photos and discovering new places

UrbanBird.io Your photos connected to the...
Review posted Mon 17 Mar '14

When modern smartphones and GPS capable cameras introduced their geolocation capabilities a while back, an opportunity was created for some enterprising entrepreneur to take full advantage of it. One in particular realized that it was all very well to display one's photographs but it wasn't quite so easy to remember where and when they were taken. The developers realized that when you take a photo using the new technology, your device logs the coordinates where the photo was taken. So, utilizing that information, they created UrbanBird to log your photo details automatically with dates, locations, titles and descriptions. Then, as ... Read more

A fully portable autism aid for when you are on the go

Words in Pictures App for autistic children
Review posted Thu 6 Mar '14

According to Wikipedia, Autism is defined as ' a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and verbal and non-verbal communication and by restricted, repetitive or stereotypical behavior.' Sufferers, more often than not young children, regularly have trouble understanding concepts that can generally only be solved using pictures to back up vocabulary and diligent parents will spend hours at home setting up image cards to help kids understand better, the world that they live in. A year or so back, an Italian developer - aided by a team of neuropsychiatrists, speech therapists, educators and parents from all over ... Read more

ZoomIt! The first social photo...
Review posted Thu 27 Feb '14

Judging from my Facebook page, I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that most people like to share photos. And, judging by the squillions of dollars that games like Candy Crush Saga and Hungry Birds have made for their developers, it seems as if there's a lot of folks out there that just love to play games online. So, how about if we mix the two? ZoomIt! is a unique free iOS game that manages to blend photo sharing with the game concept in a fun and entertaining way.    ZoomIt! is a new, free, customized photo guessing ... Read more

Review posted Sun 16 Feb '14  ·  65 comments

It has always left me totally flummoxed that it costs such a lot to produce true legal documents. Wills are probably the most perplexing. I've never quite worked out why such a small piece of paper can cost so much and, one has to wonder, is this a fiendish plot by lawyers who are trying to hold on to a nice little cash cow for themselves.  LawDeal is a new and totally free legal document creator that puts a dent into legal fees by letting you create your own legal forms quickly and easily.   Have you ever needed to ...
