The perfect iPhone app for when you forget or lose your glasses

Reader Glasses Reading Glasses App for...
Review posted Thu 2 May '13

I guess many of us are getting to the point in our lives now where we could do with a pair of eye glasses to read much of the small print that is presented to us. My eyes are pretty good but in a dimly lit restaurant even I have a problem telling the difference between a spicy and a very very spicy Tom Yum soup in my local Thai restaurant - until it hits my mouth, of course. This Reading Glasses App for iPhone is perfect for reading the fine print on a menu when you have lost or ... Read more

Review posted Thu 2 May '13

Here is a health and fitness app that doesn't come with any weight loss guarantees. It doesn't magically transform you from overweight to lightweight overnight nor is it a mind expanding instant answer to your dieting problems. What it is, though, is a well thought out companion to your weight control program that can give you the same dietary help when you are on-the-go as when you are in the comfort of your own surroundings at home. UControlWeight helps you keep full track of the calorie content of the things that you eat during the day by parking itself on ... Read more

The new intuitive way of getting photo info online

CamFind Discover The World Around You
Review posted Wed 1 May '13

Judging by the fact that CamFind logged up over 50,000 downloads in its first week of release it's easy to see that it is an in-demand commodity in the photo share world. This iOS photo recognition app works in the same way that Google Goggles works for the Android in that it gives you a great search engine for information on the photos you have taken. But, while Goggles has a 15-20% accuracy rate on identifying locations from photos, CamFind ups the ante somewhat with an accuracy level that hits around 85%. What's more, it can identify your photos from ... Read more

Let's face it, this world would be a better and a far more efficient place if our personal lives were better organized. We would get far more done, things would run smoother and there would be more time to do the things that we love to do best. There are plenty of personal organization apps (known as "get things done" or GTD apps) available on the app market but I guess you have say that there are app...and then there are APPS. I think things turned around for witches and magic with the popularity of TV shows like Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and their appeal to a younger audience. Before that they were considered a bit too scary a subject for younger kids and half the potential audience went out of the door. Then Harry Potter exploded into our lives and now there appears to be wizards all over the place. With the popularity of mobiles and tablets at an all-time high, it's easy to see that the introduction of a game dealing in all things witchery is going to ... Read more

Get those ads and game invites out of your Facebook feed

Review posted Fri 26 Apr '13  ·  1 comment

There has been much rumbling from Facebook users of late concerning how much they dislike the volume of advertising that has encroached onto their news feeds. I've even had one friend saying that she reports each one as spam whenever they crop up. In reality, it's probably inevitable considering the billion dollars that Mr Zuckerberg reportedly shelled out for Instagram last year. But now we have an app that completely redesigns your Facebook Timeline so that the only things you see are the news, photos and status updates of your friends. Installing Coverfeed for Facebook means you won't be subjected ... Read more

Well, I thought Paul the Beatle was pretty good. And i thought that Paul the movie was hilarious. So, PAUL the app had a pretty good chance of turning out to be quite interesting. And interesting it most certainly is - especially for fans of video watching from the likes of YouTube, Last.fm, CNN and ESPN and your social networks. Review posted Wed 24 Apr '13  ·  1 comment

Since the glory days of movies, when Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide was to be seen on pretty much every film fan's bookshelf, all of us movie buffs have wanted to create a database of films we have watched. The Maltin guides would often feature movie reviews highlighted in different colors for 'films seen' and 'films not seen yet' and this is where a specific iPhone app is the obvious choice to take its place. Watched is a beautiful looking film tracking and review application where you can list, rate, review and share your personal movie collection with your friends.   ... Read more

Common Core Lesson Planner Education App of the Year 2013
Review posted Mon 22 Apr '13  ·  1 comment

The image that immediately comes to mind when thinking of planning and preparing teaching lessons is of the kindly teacher, laboriously trudging through large amounts of paper and mapping out the direction of the upcoming lesson. Oh, hang on...that was a Dickens book i was reading. Well, its either that or you can update it to the 20th Century by imagining the same scenario with its modern day equivalent - Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. Now it's time to move on from those efficient but bad old days and move into the next generation of lesson planning. Common Core is ... Read more
