Log the ages and birthdays of your friends and family with a countdown to the big day

AgeLog Track how old your friends &...
Review posted Mon 8 Feb '16

When I first looked at AgeLog I figured that it was just another birthday reminder for your iPhone. I was trying to work out why there was yet another app like this when there were so many others on the market already. However, while it does include many of the features that many birthday apps have, AgeLog puts a slightly different emphasis on proceedings. It's 'raisin d'être' is to log the ages of all the people around us. Read more

Stimulate your brain and improve your mental math skills

Review posted Mon 1 Feb '16

You know...there are way too many reasons to ensure that you have good mental math skills. If nothing else, its pretty important that you know how to count the change back into your hand after a purchase. But probably just as important as that is the self confidence that it gives you in your daily life, not to mention the perception of others towards you. Like it or not, someone who can add up or subtract is afforded more respect in society than one who cant. Lets face it, we can't all walk around and fish out a calculator from ... Read more

What is your porn name, anyway?

Nomenclature The Science of Naming Things
Review posted Thu 28 Jan '16

I'm sure everyone has, at some point, played the 'what's your porn star name' game. I guess the most popular way of playing it is by using your pet's name as your first name and coupling it with the name of the street that you first lived in as your surname. For me that means I would become Buffy Wellington if I were ever to chance my arm in the porn industry. One thing's for sure, when you add something like alcohol,  it's a game that'll be guaranteed to break the ice at parties and delivers a hell of a ... Read more

Review posted Wed 23 Dec '15

There was a time when folks used to always have a small notebook or a diary tucked away in their pocket wherever they went. It was vital to keep a note of all those important things like phone numbers and addresses and to write stuff down that you didn't want to forget. At home they might keep a scrapbook to paste in photos and the like or a travel log if they'd been on vacation. I wonder if anyone does that stuff anymore - especially when you can keep all that stuff and more on an app for your iPhone ... Read more

Review posted Wed 25 Nov '15

In a recent study, it was found that an astonishing 1.2 billion people are part of the worldwide gaming community with around 700 million playing games online. To cater for these game-aholics, there are a whole heap of wannabe games released every week for your mobile or tablet. Most of them are little more than addictive time wasters that while away a few minutes on your commute to and from work or keep you amused as you lay on the couch in the evening. Sadly, most don't teach you a great deal apart from maybe increasing your reaction time in ... Read more

A fun and exciting Egyptian-themed arcade game to test your skills

Bungee Mummy: Challenges This easytouch and funny game...
Review posted Mon 9 Nov '15

Independent games developer Steampunk Wizard’s first game in their Mummy series was an action-adventure-puzzler called Bungee Mummy: King’s Escape. It was an an exciting and funny Egyptian themed, level-based game for Android and iOS where you had to swing around ancient tombs like Spider-Man and defeat the evil Solark who has stolen your throne. Now they've released a follow up game called Challenges that, rather than competing on individual levels, consists of four mini games to test your tapping, swiping, pulling and flicking skills. Classic old school gameplay for modern devices

Paradot Do you have the balls!
Review posted Tue 29 Sep '15

I went to visit some friends down the coast recently and it occurred to me that the choice of home entertainment goes down big time as soon as one gets away from the city. We played a few games of cards before someone pulled out a peg solitaire game and that was it for the rest of the evening. I'd forgotten how wonderfully addictive and entertaining it was. I guess there was a little bit of synchronicity involved when I came across this entertaining puzzle game for iOS that bears some basic similarities. Paradot is a minimalistic retro style action ... At the time, FarmVille 2 was killing it as the most popular game on Facebook The rest of the story is history and, within a year, Candy Crush Saga was made available to multiple platforms and had almost 50 million users playing it every month. There have been a multitude of games released since then that have tried to steal a little of ... Read more

Easier and a heck of a lot more fun than just rolling dice

CritDice Easier than rolling real dice.
Review posted Wed 9 Sep '15

Not being much of a game playing kind of guy, I winced a little bit when I first looked at this dice roller app. I mean, unless you love dice games, what is there to say about them? They roll, they score, that's it! Why do you need an app for that? You may just as well use real dice, right? Well, how wrong can one be? CritDice really is a whole lot of fun and already I'd much rather use this Android app to roll dice than the real thing. This free game for smartphones and tablets makes rolling ... Read more
