What is your porn name, anyway?

Nomenclature The Science of Naming Things
Review posted Thu 28 Jan '16

I'm sure everyone has, at some point, played the 'what's your porn star name' game. I guess the most popular way of playing it is by using your pet's name as your first name and coupling it with the name of the street that you first lived in as your surname. For me that means I would become Buffy Wellington if I were ever to chance my arm in the porn industry. One thing's for sure, when you add something like alcohol,  it's a game that'll be guaranteed to break the ice at parties and delivers a hell of a ... Read more

A new kind of news in 20 second sound bites

Headliner App Streaming video news
Review posted Sat 26 Dec '15

How many times do you hear it these days? The news is too serious. It's depressing. Whether it be terrorist bombs, street shootings or violent Black Friday fights, it almost makes you wanna turn off the news and watch "Two and a Half Men." Well, maybe I'm stretching it a little there but i'm sure you know exactly what I mean. In actual fact, more and more people are turning to their mobiles to catch up on the news rather than the traditional TV nightly versions. However, if the truth were known, even mobile news leaves a little to be ... Read more

Review posted Wed 23 Dec '15

There was a time when folks used to always have a small notebook or a diary tucked away in their pocket wherever they went. It was vital to keep a note of all those important things like phone numbers and addresses and to write stuff down that you didn't want to forget. At home they might keep a scrapbook to paste in photos and the like or a travel log if they'd been on vacation. I wonder if anyone does that stuff anymore - especially when you can keep all that stuff and more on an app for your iPhone ... Read more

I've often wondered, you know. What exactly is it that turns a good app into a viral sensation? Over the years we've reviewed all the great free social apps upon release here at the FeedMyApp offices. Some, like Pinterest, Vine and Snapchat, were pretty obviously going to succeed. Others, like Flipboard, were not quite so obvious. The one thing they do need is a fair bit of luck. Given that wee bit of that luck, here's one that looks like it has all the right ingredients to hit the big time and be a mainstay in the app world over ... Read more

Classic old school gameplay for modern devices

Paradot Do you have the balls!
Review posted Tue 29 Sep '15

I went to visit some friends down the coast recently and it occurred to me that the choice of home entertainment goes down big time as soon as one gets away from the city. We played a few games of cards before someone pulled out a peg solitaire game and that was it for the rest of the evening. I'd forgotten how wonderfully addictive and entertaining it was. I guess there was a little bit of synchronicity involved when I came across this entertaining puzzle game for iOS that bears some basic similarities. Paradot is a minimalistic retro style action ... Could this be the next Candy Crush Saga?

Berry Blast Blast your way to the top
Review posted Tue 22 Sep '15

When Candy Crush Saga was first unleashed onto the mobile market back in 2012 there wasn't a huge amount of fuss about it. It was the follow on from the very successful browser game - Candy Crush. At the time, FarmVille 2 was killing it as the most popular game on Facebook The rest of the story is history and, within a year, Candy Crush Saga was made available to multiple platforms and had almost 50 million users playing it every month. There have been a multitude of games released since then that have tried to steal a little of ... Read more

Save and share small parts of videos rather than having to keep the whole thing

Eclips Pinterest for Video
Review posted Mon 21 Sep '15

I'm sure that we've all been in a position at one time or another where we've been watching a longish video on YouTube and found a part of it really interesting. So interesting, in fact, that we want to keep it and watch it again later or share it with our friends. The process at the moment seems to be to save the whole video to your playlist or to add it to the "watch later" feature. However, it can get a little annoying when the section that you want to keep is only one or two minutes out of ... Read more

Review posted Mon 7 Sep '15

You might have seen a review that FeedMyApp ran recently for an iOS app called Notes Lock. It secured all your notes, recorded conversations and your private thoughts so that prying eyes wouldn't be able to get to them. Folder Lock Advanced is kind of an expanded version of that for both Android, iPhone and iPad that takes security one step further to protect and lock your personal folders, files, photos, apps, videos, notes, wallet and any other kind of data that you need to keep secure. This release is actually an updated and far more advanced version of the ... Read more

Take the hassle out of conference room bookings

Roomzilla Effective and easy to use...
Review posted Sun 9 Aug '15

You wouldn't think that there would be too many problems in managing physical conference room reservations, would you? One would figure that you just invite people after checking their schedules and then find a room and work out a convenient time for everyone. There are even models in Outlook and Google Calendar that work on that system. Unfortunately, it's not always that simple. What tends to happen is that some rooms get double booked while others remain empty - causing frustration on all sides. After years of testing, a company in Cambridge, Massachusetts has put together a faultless, cloud-based solution ... Read more

Vidpal video travel request
Review posted Fri 31 Jul '15

Anyone who is a regular reader of FeedMyApp reviews will know just how much we love a new and innovative travel app. To be quite honest, we feel a little starved of great ones of late. Despite the plethora of travel related apps that exploded onto our lives in the early days of app development, there haven't been that many recently that have managed to stir the interest of this would be traveler. However, here's one that could be very interesting to the more adventurous amongst us. VidPal offers a new concept in discovering new places by asking fellow travelers ... Read more
