See what the locals see in NYC

Citydoping NYC Get high on NYC
Review posted Tue 5 Mar '13

New York is so good they named it twice, according to Frank Sinatra. There has been so much written about the place over the years and it is still one of the must-visit cities in the world. Every travel application features it amongst their top cities but most of them just show you the highlights and obvious tourist places. While its essential to touristy visit places like the Brooklyn Bridge, the Chrysler building and the Statue of Liberty it is just as interesting to see the stuff the locals see. CitydopingNYC is a new iOS app created by New Yorkers ... Read more

WikiDo WIKI DO: Things to Do today...
Review posted Thu 20 Dec '12  ·  10 comments

I wonder how many of you know what's going on in terms of entertainment in your city tonight. You'll probably think you have a pretty good idea but it's actually fairly difficult to get a grip on the multitude of events that are happening every night in a major city unless you buy an evening newspaper, the local 'whats on' guide and then check a few local Internet sites. Wikido is a very flexible  geolocalization-based entertainment search engine that hunts down all the entertainment in your city from countless websites whether it be a concert, a rodeo or sports event. ... Imagine you have just arrived in a new city, let's say it's Louisville, Kentucky, and you know nothing about the place. What's the first thing you do? Buy a map or a tourist guide? Well you don't have to do that when you have a travel app like this one. SpeakypediaEN is a new way of accessing information about a new place and gives you an audio guide using information from Wikipedia. It's like when you are going around an art gallery and you want all the guff on the artworks. Just plug in and connect with the Internet and ... Read more

Use Facebook to geolocalize your hunt for those Louboutin shoes

Facearound Explore the world around you!
Review posted Sat 17 Nov '12  ·  1 comment

One of the big problems with new startups is that, even though the developers have come up with a brilliant concept, the app really can't take off without having plenty of members to input information. Quite often, an app really won't hit it's straps until a year or so into its life - if it lasts that long. With Facearound you don't get that problem because it is directly tied to Facebook and draws on a lot of their members' information while encouraging its own members to get involved too. What this iOS app does it to geolocate all the ... Read more

tripnirvana Marketplace for trip planning
Review posted Tue 4 Sep '12

TripNirvana could be described as the vacation planner for the lazy holiday-maker but that really wouldn't be doing it justice. Where this app differs from the many other travel guides is in its personality and personalities. Instatrip Instagram + Trips = Instatrip
Review posted Wed 29 Aug '12

While being a very simple photoshare application Instatrip surprisingly turns out to be quite an engaging little Instagram offshoot - especially for those who love to take photos of the fantastic places that they visit on their travels. And really, all you need to do is to tag your Instagram photos with their location as your photos are automatically generated out of your Instagram photostream. It's a place where you can create and share your photos from your vacation or holiday trips and share them with your friends as well as the rest of the world.   Many vacationers tend ... Read more

A fun and effective way of learning conversational Japanese

StudyChat Japanese Learning Japanese Made Fun
Review posted Tue 28 Aug '12

They say that if you are going to learn a language then the earlier you start the better. But why is that I wonder? Surely, the brain power of an adult with their learning capacity and drive is going to be able to pick up a language at least as quickly as a little kid. So maybe the learning pattern is not quite right. StudyChat Japanese was developed to incorporate an element of fun into language learning in the same way that kids are taught new words and phrases in another language.  It uses the simple and fun  idea of ...
