There was a time when folks used to always have a small notebook or a diary tucked away in their pocket wherever they went. It was vital to keep a note of all those important things like phone numbers and addresses and to write stuff down that you didn't want to forget. At home they might keep a scrapbook to paste in photos and the like or a travel log if they'd been on vacation. I wonder if anyone does that stuff anymore - especially when you can keep all that stuff and more on an app for your iPhone ... Read more

If i asked you which was the more popular entertainment for American families between major league sporting events, theme parks and museums, my guess is that you wouldn't pick museums. They have long been considered to be a bit old hat and stodgy and full of nothing but ancient relics. Surely no kid would want to see that, would they? Well, according to a 2011 study, there are over 850 million visits to museums each year. That's just about the same amount as the other two put together. Museums are actually very popular, it seems. Textpert Helping you get the next date

Much of the stigma has gone out of using online dating apps over the last couple of years. In fact, according to a major recent survey in the US, one in ten of the serious relationships that started in the last decade actually originated from online contact. But as this new way of meeting people comes to the fore, there is also a need to understand that there is a right and a wrong way to communicate textually in a way that encourages the other person. If you don't have the confidence to verbalize on your own then you might ... Read more

Aaahh, life used to be so simple, didn't it? It used to be that we could rely on our memory, a diary or copious post-it notes plastered all over the fridge to remind us of the things that we or our family and friends need to do. But these days we all seem to be so busy that it's hard to keep on top of everything. Whether it be birthdays and anniversaries, upcoming bills, business meetings or scholastic events, it's a pain if they get lost in your busy schedule. What we all really need is a personal assistant to ... Read more

The debate between kindle readers and physical paper book readers has raged for a few years now and avid readers seem to have divided into one or the other. Ebook readers love the ease and simplicity of reading a book on their kindle without having shelf loads of books cluttering up their homes while paper book readers love the pure pleasure of holding a book in their hands rather than a piece of plastic. Personally, I think the kindle has a fair way to go to fulfill its obvious potential. However, there is another way of 'reading' books that seems ... Read more

Security for your computer with added locate and alert features

Review posted Tue 16 Dec '14

You'd think we'd have all learned our lesson these days about computer security. While Edward Snowden's efforts are probably out of the leagues of most people, it does seem rather silly to leave our work computers unlocked and vulnerable when we are away from our desk or when we go home at night. That's why the Gatekeeper Chain (or GK Chains) app was created. It lets you auto-lock and unlock your computer when you walk away and toward it...amongst other things. Gatekeeper - Locate and Alert is an Android and iOS app that works in conjunction with the GK Chain ... Read more

Being a bit of an artist in my spare time, I've been looking at a lot of clouds lately. The most amazing thing about them is that, apart from their basic atmospheric structure, every single one of them is completely different. Unfortunately, most of the apps that track and inform us about our weather, tend not to be quite so unique. Here is one that takes its name from one of the most beautiful cloud formations up there and offers something a little more bespoke. Cirrus One has been in development for a number of years and finally gets its ... Read more

It seems that you can't turn the news on these days without being confronted by yet another story about the weather. Whether it be extremely hot temperatures and subsequent bushfires or floods caused by cyclones, there seems to be no escape from it. For most of us, however, it's not the weather from yesterday that interests us most - it's more about what we are likely to face when we walk out of the door tomorrow morning. There are many weather apps on the market but we are still on the hunt for the perfect one. Meteovista HD is the ... Read more

Creating Character "In Tweens" Chore & Behavior Chart
Review posted Sun 23 Mar '14

We often hear talk about kids today having a much easier life than we had and how good and moral behavior seems to have gone out of the window. Of course, that isn't true for all children but, as our lives have got busier and more complicated, it's probably safe to say that a strict regimen of manners, discipline and maybe even moral standard has slipped away a little over the years. Many of us spend more time haranguing and arguing with our kids than we do in guiding them into, what is, a very competitive and harsh world. To ... Read more
