It's said that over 770,000 people suffer injuries - which include incorrect medication or wrong dosage - due to medical error each year and over 10% of patients that make a hospital visit will encounter some kind of complication from a human error. That is an astounding statistic. Pills are of particular concern because they are often generic and only feature a company logo on them as identification. ID My Pill is a new medical application for iOS that allows you to identify any of the pills you are prescribed or have hanging around the house just be taking a ... Read more

So many of us are using our smartphones and tablets far more than we do our personal and work computers these days. Given the amount of dithering around that Instagram has done since its acquisition by Facebook, it was really only a matter of time till someone came up with a credible alternative. However, rather than some 'new kid on the block' coming along to try and steal the almost iconic photosharing app's thunder, it is an old foe that has re-emerged. For all you newbies, Hipstamatic was the bees-knees before the Instagram revolution took hold and here it introduces its own photo sharing app for iOS known as Oggl (as in 'oggling' at photos, I guess.) This simple to use and ... Read more
I'm not sure why I really like Melt...but I do. After all, there's really nothing that's particularly groundbreaking about this social photo and messaging application for iOS. It might be the fact that it has a very cool name or it might be the very minimalistic qualities of its simple interface. Or it might well be that it's just the place to get your favorite photos vindicated, liked and commented on. While, of course, we can always post our interesting photos on Facebook or any number of other social networks, there's no guarantee that your blaze friends will acknowledge them. ... Read more
It would be surprising to find out that a large company doesn't have an app attached to it these days. We have been told for the last two years that an online presence is essential in these internet crazy times. With the boom in smartphones hitting an all time high and people thirsting for new apps to put on them these large businesses have had a head start on smaller ones - primarily because of the cost factor but also because it was deemed to be hard work to put a native app together. ZeitConnect is a foot-in-the-door app creator ... Read more
I have a friend who runs a cafe locally and I checked out the online reviews for the place the other day. They varied from ultra-complimentary (probably written by themselves) to ultra-critical (probably written by people from rival cafes.) To be quite honest, it didn't tell me much about the place. The whole concept of reviews needs to be thrown back on the people that matter most - customers - and Sooligan is a social review site with a difference. It takes it's 'reviews' from the comments on the pages of social media to give you a much broader overview ... Read more
You see it every day with school kids on the bus or train on the way to or from school. There will always be a couple of best friends with an earphone from the same device plugged into their ear listening to music. You've got to hope that they both like the same kind of music. But what if one of them is into the abrasive sounds of someone like Skrillex and the other likes the smoother sounds of Beyonce? How do you get around that? One song each, maybe? Well now this new music sharing application called splitr has ... Read more
Back in the days of paper books, researchers and serious book readers would always need a note pad handy to jot down relevant and important moments within the text so that it was simple to find those passages again later. Either that or there would be tiny scrawled hand written notes in the margins of the book itself. It used to be quite exciting to buy a second hand book and have someone's detailed notes explaining certain moments and drawing attention to other significant passages. In the 21st century and with the popularity of the eBook at an all time ... Read more
If somebody had asked you to get involved with an online social network called Facebook all those years ago do you think you would have taken it any further? If you did, of course, you would probably be sitting pretty right now. You'd be crazy not to look at it. GlobAllShare claims to be the future of social networking. It also offers the chance for early subscribers ... Read more
