Melt A fun little iPhone app to...
Review posted Mon 20 May '13  ·  6 comments

I'm not sure why I really like Melt...but I do. After all, there's really nothing that's particularly groundbreaking about this social photo and messaging application for iOS. It might be the fact that it has a very cool name or it might be the very minimalistic qualities of its simple interface. Or it might well be that it's just the place to get your favorite photos vindicated, liked and commented on. While, of course, we can always post our interesting photos on Facebook or any number of other social networks, there's no guarantee that your blaze friends will acknowledge them. ... Read more

Review posted Tue 14 May '13  ·  14 comments

Now... if only our day-to-day lives could be organized this well. Imagine how brilliant it would be to sort out the important from the not-so-important and be able to box up different parts of our lives and then have wise people whisper to us the things we could be missing out on. Well, that may not be so easy in the real world but online is a different story. theneeds is a news networking application that makes your whole Internet experience less cluttered and more intuitive by compartmentalizing the best and most important stuff on the net just as you ... Get locals to tell you what's good through social networks

Sooligan You're not a hooligan, you're...
Review posted Thu 9 May '13  ·  13 comments

I have a friend who runs a cafe locally and I checked out the online reviews for the place the other day. They varied from ultra-complimentary (probably written by themselves) to ultra-critical (probably written by people from rival cafes.) To be quite honest, it didn't tell me much about the place. The whole concept of reviews needs to be thrown back on the people that matter most - customers - and Sooligan is a social review site with a difference. It takes it's 'reviews' from the comments on the pages of social media to give you a much broader overview ... Read more

Skrillex to the left...Beyonce to the right. Now you can play them both at the same time.

splitr Enjoy sharing your music
Review posted Wed 8 May '13  ·  3 comments

You see it every day with school kids on the bus or train on the way to or from school. There will always be a couple of best friends with an earphone from the same device plugged into their ear listening to music. You've got to hope that they both like the same kind of music. But what if one of them is into the abrasive sounds of someone like Skrillex and the other likes the smoother sounds of Beyonce? How do you get around that? One song each, maybe? Well now this new music sharing application called splitr has ... Read more

GlobAllShare: Social Network of the future The best way to earn and share
Review posted Tue 30 Apr '13  ·  14 comments

If somebody had asked you to get involved with an online social network called Facebook all those years ago do you think you would have taken it any further? If you did, of course, you would probably be sitting pretty right now. So if a new social network was about to start up that has something new to offer and offered you the chance to get involved during the pre-organizational stage, would you be interested? You'd be crazy not to look at it. GlobAllShare claims to be the future of social networking. It also offers the chance for early subscribers ... Read more

Create your own "Leonard Maltin-style" movie database

watched An easy and beautiful way to...
Review posted Wed 24 Apr '13  ·  1 comment

Since the glory days of movies, when Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide was to be seen on pretty much every film fan's bookshelf, all of us movie buffs have wanted to create a database of films we have watched. The Maltin guides would often feature movie reviews highlighted in different colors for 'films seen' and 'films not seen yet' and this is where a specific iPhone app is the obvious choice to take its place. Watched is a beautiful looking film tracking and review application where you can list, rate, review and share your personal movie collection with your friends.   ... Read more

AppilyWed Automatically Collect Your...
Review posted Tue 16 Apr '13  ·  2 comments

How could we possibly pass up on the opportunity to review a wedding photo app with a name as brilliant as AppilyWed. Believe me, there are some pretty average names out there for apps but this one is perfect. So does the app live up to the name, you ask? Well, luckily enough, this is an app that offers something new in the wedding photos concept. Up till now, this type of app has tended to be simply an online version of a traditional wedding album. Hardly a reason to switch formats as the traditional book style wedding album wins ... Read more

When you are the guy who has volunteered to collect the money for a group or team event it's not always a pleasant thing. There's always one or two that lag behind the rest when its time to pay up but you're the one who comes across as the bad guy. It's not fair.
