Both a unique marketing tool and a fun photosharing surprise

Rickrolling was a phrase that came about because of a unique piece of music marketing some years ago. Some genius marketer came up with a 'bait and switch' concept that provided a hyperlink being triggered when a person clicked on an interesting picture. Rather than the link taking them where they were expecting to go, it took them to a music video by British singer Rick Astley and his hit single "Never Gonna Give You Up." People who clicked were known as rickrollers. The campaign was hailed as an innovative - if rather sneaky - marketing success and had the ... Read more

A simple, fun and free app to remind you of everything that you need to do

WakesApp The simplest way to manage...
Review posted Mon 15 Jun '15

Aaahh, life used to be so simple, didn't it? It used to be that we could rely on our memory, a diary or copious post-it notes plastered all over the fridge to remind us of the things that we or our family and friends need to do. But these days we all seem to be so busy that it's hard to keep on top of everything. Whether it be birthdays and anniversaries, upcoming bills, business meetings or scholastic events, it's a pain if they get lost in your busy schedule. What we all really need is a personal assistant to ... Read more

Its a strange thing but the comments box at the bottom of a website page often offers some of the most incisive comments that you can find. I don't know about you but it's often the first thing I look at after perusing a page about a product or service. Sometimes there are a few iffy comments in there but, generally speaking, you can find out tips and recommendations and it's a really good way for developers to find out what their visitors are really thinking. It's also an opportunity to answer queries as well as engaging your community and ... Read more

Review posted Tue 9 Sep '14

The world is not a very happy place right now. Just look at the news. There's trouble in the Middle East and Europe, and Africa is a minefield just waiting to explode. The fact is, as individuals, we can't really have much control over what's happening in the word. We can have some control in our own individual happiness, however. MyHappiness is a social self-help application for iOS and Android that can be used as a personal happiness trainer as well as a platform to keep a record of your happy times and your not-so-happy times. This fun set of ... Read more

Review posted Sun 31 Aug '14

If someone asks you whether you've been 'whese-ing' these days, you might be mistaken into thinking that they were inquiring about your health. However, there's another use of the word that has less to do with the state of your health and more to do with your state of your social selfie. Whese is a new, free photo-sharing application for iOS that throws the word 'whese-ing' into our online vocabulary. This simple to use, real-time app is ideal for the serial selfie taker and allows users to share every moment of their lives with their Whese friends. Add a few ... Read more

The first online and in-person game to use GIFs to get your message across

Review posted Sun 13 Jul '14

It's not easy to come up with an original game concept these days. YIX is a new game for iOS that actually manages to come up with something a little bit different to keep us amused. Well, to be honest, you can't really call this entertaining and very social game truly original because it's origins lie in games like Cards Against Humanity and Apples To Apples but, with it's use of animated GIFs rather than cards, it offers a unique take on a fun and often hilarious piece of entertainment that you can play with family and friends.   The ... Get social while you find great new movies

Review posted Fri 6 Jun '14

It seems to get more and more difficult to find a really good movie these days - especially if your taste runs to more than multi million dollar blockbusters that seem to dominate the multiplexes. There used to be the local DVD store down the road that would always have someone working that knows their stuff but they are few and far between in the digital age. So there needs to be another knowledge base of good films to tap into that ensures that lesser known masterpieces like Donnie Darko and Cloud Atlas don't slip through the cracks. We've seen ... A new, easy and provocative way of writing a personal diary or journal

Askt App Journal by daily questions
Review posted Sat 26 Apr '14

You might have seen a review that FeedMyApp posted recently for an app called BooksTo.Me. In it, it was mentioned how posting daily Instagram photos has become the new diary for many people and how it was a convenient way of documenting your life. The diary concept has all but disappeared for many these days, but with so many popular online versions available as well as the plethora of personal blogs and journals, it’s obvious that many have a hankering to document their daily activities. But anyone who writes on a daily basis will know that the hardest sentence to ... Read more

Hellfie social networking photo
Review posted Tue 25 Mar '14

We all have bad days from time to time but sometimes they are difficult to put into words. Sure, you can tell your friends that you woke up with a bad headache and the cat had thrown up in the kitchen and you missed the train to work but it does seem like a bit of a whinge when you see that on your favorite social network first thing in the morning. As the old saying goes...a picture tells a thousand words. Hellfie is a photo sharing app that turns into a social network for those moments when only a ... Read more

A convenient and fun way of geolocating your travel photos and discovering new places

UrbanBird.io Your photos connected to the...
Review posted Mon 17 Mar '14

When modern smartphones and GPS capable cameras introduced their geolocation capabilities a while back, an opportunity was created for some enterprising entrepreneur to take full advantage of it. One in particular realized that it was all very well to display one's photographs but it wasn't quite so easy to remember where and when they were taken. The developers realized that when you take a photo using the new technology, your device logs the coordinates where the photo was taken. So, utilizing that information, they created UrbanBird to log your photo details automatically with dates, locations, titles and descriptions. Then, as ... Read more
