Vikido.com Live - Share - Smile
Review posted Fri 30 Dec '11

Letting your kids loose on the internet must be a worry for any parent. With a range of social networks to choose from it’s not always easy to know just who’s hooking up as a friend and looking at photographs. On the other hand of course you don’t want to deprive youngsters of the pleasure of sharing special moments and at the same time honing some useful computer skills. Doing all of this in the knowledge that the environment is safe and secure is obviously the answer to all of those concerns and Vikido looks like a great place to start your ... Get your art reviewed - or review others' efforts

Pictte Grow as an Artist
Review posted Sat 24 Dec '11

For those of you who have an artistic bent but are yet to be discovered by the great art buyers of the world then this site will probably tick most of your boxes. If you’re an avid sketcher, prefer water colors or even dabble in oils then you can upload your masterpieces and get them critiqued by your peers out there. If your preferred artistic medium is photography there is room for that on Piccte as well. It’s all about points of course and you have to earn them. To kick things off all new members are given sufficient points to enable ... Read more

Road rage online - the safer version

Driver Ratings Rate other drivers etiquette...
Review posted Sat 24 Dec '11

If you’ve ever been cut up by a lousy driver and are clever enough to take down their license plate without breaking the law then you now have the platform to warn the rest of the locality about them. You can of course also flag up any drivers who impress you with their road skills, well their license plate anyway. I’m not sure I would have the inclination to get home, log in and vent my spleen about someone who had just pulled out in front of me. If it was a really dangerous piece of driving which could, but for ... Read more

Social sharing with revenue opportunities

Po.st Share content online
Review posted Fri 23 Dec '11

I always wondered how publishers reclaimed monetary compensation when content on their site is copied. Up until now the answer to that has been "with great difficulty and an awful lot of trust." However, with the introduction of this social sharing and analytical site, there is now an opportunity for publishers to track when their content is copied and also provides a tool that includes a link back to your site when it is pasted.   Po.st is a win for both the publisher and their audience.  Unlike alternatives like ShareThis and AddThis, Po.st is the only social sharing platform ... Spread the word on those deals...

BragTaggs Brag about the deals you find...
Review posted Fri 23 Dec '11

This one looks like an awful lot of work for just a trophy badge and the chance of a $20 gift card now and then but it has only just emerged from private beta so we’ll put the acid filled pen away……for now. The concept is based on the perception that people who find an amazing deal somewhere will not be able to stop themselves from spreading the news. I agree to a point but it does fall down somewhere in my opinion. I am all for spreading the news of discounted food or gas as it is a charitable thing to ... Read more

Have a rant...

RantSocial What made you mad today?
Review posted Fri 23 Dec '11

It’s very tempting to sign up for this one and then have a long rant about the need for its existence but I haven’t got the time or the inclination. Besides, I can have a rant about it here. When all is said and done there is not really that much to rant about and the main reason for that is because there really isn’t that much period! The site blurb confidently shouts out about using it to rant to the world rather than just your Facebook and Twitter friends but by the look of it the world is yet to wake ... A challenge to LinkedIn? Possibly not...

betterGrind Leverage your friends to find...
Review posted Thu 22 Dec '11

ˈIt’s not what you but who you knowˈ is a phrase that often pops up in connection with people who manage to land a job that to the innocent bystander seems way beyond them. Well this site positively encourages you to use your friends and any influence they may have to get you a job where they work but if you don’t have a Facebook account you can’t, at least for the moment, play along. It might be simplifying it a little I suppose. After all if you wanted a job and needed to ask your friends to put in a good ... Read more

Social networking for the art world

MyArtMap.de Social network for artists
Review posted Mon 19 Dec '11  ·  1 comment

Art collectors tend to be an anonymous bunch. You don't really hear much about them until they strike and buy a piece of work and then their name isn't often featured. MyArtMap.de is the perfect app for those people. It's a social network for artists, collectors and the general art market that's available in several different languages. It's aim is to link the world of cultural world of art with the economic world of collecting.   With the internet so indispensable in our day to day dealings it's about time the artists of the world had their own social networking ...
