"He was a man of few words" is a phrase you don't hear so much these days. It seems that everyone has an opinion on everything and no one is afraid to express those opinions. But half the trouble there is that where Twitter restricts it's tweets to 140 characters that is sometimes even too much. It would be interesting to condense that to a smaller figure to make one's opinions virtual soundbites of your thoughts. Hycku is a Nano-blogging service where you can deliver your ideas and thoughts in just seven words or less. Read more
ˈIt’s not what you but who you knowˈ is a phrase that often pops up in connection with people who manage to land a job that to the innocent bystander seems way beyond them. Well this site positively encourages you to use your friends and any influence they may have to get you a job where they work but if you don’t have a Facebook account you can’t, at least for the moment, play along. It might be simplifying it a little I suppose. After all if you wanted a job and needed to ask your friends to put in a good ... Read more
I love this, interviews might be a fundamental part of the hiring process but you can’t really gauge if the applicant could do the job once they’re on the payroll from a polite conversation over coffee and a Krispy Kreme. You’re also never quite sure how much of the resume has been dressed up. I once worked for a business where a guy applied for the position of Head of Operations. His resume stated quite clearly that he spoke fluent Dutch which might have been why our Dutch boss was keen to interview him. One simple question in the language soon ... Read more
