Review posted Fri 11 Oct '13  ·  400 comments

There's a well worn phrase that says that sport is the opiate of the masses and that is more than true when if comes to football...or soccer, for our American friends. Football fans can be rabid in their love of their team and, with teams like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea in England and Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain,it's hardly surprising that they are some of the biggest and most profitable sporting teams in the world. Indeed, their fans are spread across the globe. So, it’s reasonable to assume, that those fans are always on the lookout for ways ... Read more

Filter all your social networks and never miss an important Tweet

Slim social media for busy people
Review posted Wed 31 Jul '13  ·  85 comments

I've been saying for some time that there is an optimum number of friends that are manageable on social networks. Realistically, having anything more than 200 Facebook friends makes scrolling through the various feeds almost a full time job. Many of them mean little of nothing to you and you will skip over them to get to the important stuff. Damned time consuming, isn't it? Now, add Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram and, what used to be a fun exercise, is starting to turn into a full time job. Slim is a new iOS social media productivity application that filters the ... If I said the words clipart to you the chances are you going to flip the page and have a look t something else. Clip art apps and sites are 'two-a-penny' aren't they? Just Google one and you will find pretty well what you are looking for straight away. Some will be free and some will require a royalty fee to be paid. Most people aren't keen on the idea of paying for clipart so there is a lot of potential for an app like this one. i2Clipart is an online sharing network that lets users create, share and download ... A chance for small businesses to compete on social networks

SocialCentiv Turn Conversations into...
Review posted Mon 15 Apr '13  ·  39 comments

Advertising on social media sites has become commonplace over the last few years. It was a boon to really small shops and small businesses because it gave them free advertising and a chance to talk to their fans on a regular basis. But it still isn't easy to get your word across to a bigger audience. Its a lot easy if you are willing to spend big bucks on your advertising campaigns but that just generally isn't an issue for businesses on small, tight budgets. So thats where a social media monitoring app like SocialCentiv comes in. It is designed ... Read more

While this iPhone app might be an incredibly simple concept, it is quite often the simplest of apps that prove to be the most successful. So, why is it that I think that this messaging app might achieve world dominance. Well, let's assume you are trying to encourage your local Twitter friends to come to a party or a gig that night or maybe you are trying to meet up at a bar for a drink. You could tweet them all individually or link them but that could take a lot of time and all those names will use up ... Read more

Review posted Fri 8 Feb '13  ·  22 comments

One of the things that sets the biggest sporting teams apart from the also-rans in their field are their rabid supporters who will support their team through thick and thin. NFL has the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots and  New York Giants, baseball has the NY Yankees and the LA Dodgers, basketball has the Lakers and the biggest of all - soccer (or football, as it is known in most territories) has the Spanish clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona and finally, there are England's Manchester United and London's famous Arsenal. Formed in the 19th Century, Arsenal - or ... Read more

Review posted Wed 6 Feb '13  ·  21 comments

Your local Main Street retailer isn't going to like hearing this but there are an awful lot of items that can be bought at much cheaper prices in other countries rather than at your local shopping complex. And while it may not be particularly good for the local economy, if you spent a bit of time shopping around online you can probably find your item at a better price in a store in a different country. The problem is, though...how do you get hold of your item after you've found it? PriceItBuy takes your online shopping social by connecting you ... Read more

It would be hard to imagine a more comprehensive, informative and beautiful iOS application than this one. Not only does EarthBuzz Weather look like a million dollars but it is filled with real-time satellite data on weather conditions worldwide. It also looks like it was made for iPad - the perfect platform to view it. While there has been a plethora of weather apps made available it's difficult to imagine one better than this unique free 3D masterpiece that, unlike many of the others, backs up its good looks with meaningful weather data.   EarthBuzz is an interactive social weather ... LikeHack Your personal content curator
Review posted Fri 1 Feb '13  ·  40 comments

I've been saying for a while now that having much more than a couple of hundred Facebook friends almost turns into a full time job trying to keep up with the numerous feeds. Add that to your Twitter feeds and the rest of posts and status updates and you can start to feel a little overwhelmed by information - and most of it is probably of no interest to you whatsoever. LikeHack is a social content curator that personalizes your social network feeds giving you only the tuff you are really interested in.   LikeHack is a simple, easy to ... Read more
