Chris Blackwell was a festival loving student in England when he came up with this innovative music application for iPhone and iOS that documents the whole music festival experience. With iFest, he created an app that details all the experiences of multiple UK music festivals and was 3rd in the paid music apps charts in the UK last year.
iFest is a dynamic, real time solution for the preparations and experiences of multiple festivals throughout the UK and includes details of Isle of Wight, Download, Glastonbury, Hop Farm, T in the Park, Oxegen, V Festival, Creamfields, Bestival, Coachella (USA), RockNess, Isle of Wight, Sonisphere (UK), Latitude, Global gathering, Reading and Leeds and all are delivered exclusively for the iPhone. Blackwell, a final year multimedia student at the University of Plymouth and avid festival goer said: "I've always found it difficult to access information at festivals and I had this idea of tapping into the proliferation of smart phones. It all came together very quickly." He created it for the Glastonbury Festival in 2010 but has since expanded it to cover all these other great festivals. iFest provides information for festival goers includingline-ups, stage maps, band information, directions and weather updates from the MET Office. It even uses GPS technology to help you locate your tent! It is also fully integrated into the Facebook social network site, enabling easy distribution of information. iFest was 3rd in the Paid Music apps chart last year for several weeks. iFest is a unique iOS application that is the only one on the app store to contain information for various different festivals and not just dedicated to the one. It also promotes various features that similar apps do not putting iFest head and shoulders above the rest.
The have been lots of festival apps for specific events in the past but all have dealt with individual festivals and all play havoc with the battery life on your smartphone. Blackwell's iFest gives up to date information on all the big festivals and proves itself to be a must have if going to any of those festivals so you know who is playing and on what stage. But maybe it's biggest draw card will be its GPS enabled tent finder tool which will locate your tent when you are tired and emotional after a long night of raving and have no idea where your tent is in that sea of canvas.
