If you aren't aware of Pinterest by now then you probably won't be too intested in this nice little social monitoring app that could be called its bastard cousin. Pinpuff, while not directly connected with the latest social networking phenomena after Facebook and Twitter, is a useful, fun and free spin off that aims to build a network of Pinterest users and calculate their Pinfluence using a very clever algorithm.

Pinpuff is building an awesome network of Pinterest users with their Pinfluence and Pin value calculated. Pinfluence is a measure of your popularity, influence, activity and reach on Pinterest and the value of your  Pin and the traffic your Pins' generate. In simple words, they are developing Klout for Pinterest. When you give Pinpuff any Pinterest username, they will gather and collate all the Pinterest data that surrounds them. That means finding out all the user's information including their followers, people they follow, noticeboards, pins, likes and comments etc. Over time they have developed an algorithm that uses all these numbers as variables to come up with a Pinfluence score on the scale of 100. Depending upon the quality of sharing and followers, the monetary value of each pin is also calculated. Now, this is where Pinpuff can get interesting if you decide to use it in business mode. If a brand or product is involved the monetary value can be calculated keeping in mind ROIs that can be extracted if the company  is paying for pins.

Pinpuff could be called out for doing a bit of cashing in on Pinterest's new found popularity but, in their own admission, the developers are some of it's biggest fans. In their defense, rather than copying the social photo sharing concept of the original, Pinpuff have developed a couple of algorithms to use Pinterest information, model and demographic in a very productive manner for both users and brands. Check out the application now for a very special offer to the first 1000 early adopters.
