Challenge Vault: Crowdsourcing...but where's the crowd?

I had a great idea to make use of this site but then I thought it might be a bit cruel. Having had a look through it, not that there’s much to look at, I thought I might create a post and challenge the developers to tell me what the point of it is! They describe the app as a platform where organizations and businesses can create online challenges around their brands and increase visibility and customer loyalty. I know good PR and advertising campaigns don’t come cheap but looking at the low level impact this one generates on your senses when you hit the home page I think I’d rather pay out.

The concept is (I think) that you create a challenge and offer a prize to whoever you decide gives the winning answer or response. The prize could be anything and not necessarily related to the question or indeed your business or cause.

I suppose it’s a variant on the crowdfunding/crowdsourcing idea but without any obvious aim. Having said that it does lack one vital ingredient fundamental to the success of either of those two concepts and that is the actual existence of a crowd.

The blurb mentions that it’s for "people who want to get up and do something exciting and fun." I can only assume that the crowd they are aiming at have got up and gone somewhere else for their fun as there are no current challenges and of the paltry number of previous posts elicited a limp response to say the least.

I may be jumping the gun here and this might still be waiting to launch to loud applause and cheers. All I would say is it will need one hell of a launch party to challenge my senses.

Conclusion

This one definitely looks like it lost momentum shortly after it started and I’m not sure what it can do to kick-start any interest.
