Sooligan: Get locals to tell you what's good through social networks

Sooligan Sooligan Info Visit

I have a friend who runs a cafe locally and I checked out the online reviews for the place the other day. They varied from ultra-complimentary (probably written by themselves) to ultra-critical (probably written by people from rival cafes.) To be quite honest, it didn't tell me much about the place. The whole concept of reviews needs to be thrown back on the people that matter most - customers - and Sooligan is a social review site with a difference. It takes it's 'reviews' from the comments on the pages of social media to give you a much broader overview of the localized places around you. Rather than just telling you that the falafel are great at Abdul's Restaurant, Sooligan tells you that the place is packed and that they've run out of humus.

Online reviews are typically about food, movies, or books yet it’s unlikely that you'll find a review of the smaller moments that make up the day. These seemingly insignificant but frequent raves and rants from people - like the long line at Starbucks or the fat turnaround at the Apple Store - only ever turn up as status updates on social networking sites. You take them in but they are really only relevant to the people that are there. There may be stories that talk about the weather, traffic conditions, available classes, cool restaurants and great local businesses or even sporting events like football games. This creates an interactive snapshot of the current culture and sentiment of a city. Sooligan is a real-time social search platform where users can find, sort and share thoughts or feelings regarding local experiences and moments. The app captures all the raves and rants of locals in any city and at any time. Not only are these localized raves and rants entertaining to read, but they're also very useful local information for newcomers and visitors in the city. You can even post questions about specific places and receive instant answers from locals who live in the city. To take best advantage you can also get localized deals and ads on relevant products and services. With Sooligan, anyone can travel to any part of the world and, without knowing a single person there, feel like a local.

Sooligan is a very cool and easy to use app that gives you all the normally unseen localized social media information and gives a new meaning to the phrase "word-of-mouth." There's little doubt that, despite the great wishes of marketers worldwide, there is nothing better than a personal recommendation to entice you to visit and, effectively, that's what you have here - it's glorified word-of-mouth for the digitalized age. It's a fast, real-time way of finding what going on in a city and a lot of fun to play with too. It's a way for visitors in a new city to find great places and also an opportunity for businesses and individuals to advertise themselves through their social networks. It's a very interesting concept.
