MEETorDIE: How much money do meetings waste?

MEETorDIE MEETorDIE Info Visit

This is all a bit of fun and probably serves the same purpose as a stress ball for people who are constantly dragged into pointless meetings at work.

The business world is full of people who consider spending hours talking about something is more productive than actually doing anything about it. Well this app won’t really help you convince these annoying people to stop running everything up the flag pole or asking you to think outside the box but it might help you to laugh about it afterwards with your colleagues.

It’s free of course and there is no registration requirement so your submissions are anonymous (we hope!) You simply add a few relevant details such as company name, industry, staff count, attendees and length of time of the meeting.

Apart from the company name the other information is chosen from drop-down boxes meaning the system can link the information in order to give you your "result". For instance I tried a couple of imaginary scenarios involving GE and News International Corp and the drop-down box for staff attending changed to reflect the industry description.

If you think for one minute that this is a serious website you’ll quickly realize the error of your ways when you notice that one of the suggested attendees is "the jerk from marketing"!

The results page basically tells you that your company has wasted X number of hours on meetings over the last year and week and invites your comments. The numbers can’t be made up of any serious analysis of course as I also tried an imaginary company and the system seemed to know all about it!

The slam-dunk moment however arrives towards the end of your results. When confronted with this terrible waste of money you’re invited to make a donation to The Red Cross and a link takes you straight there. Nice One!!!

Conclusion

A light hearted way to let off some steam. If the site actually does have some success in raising money for a good cause then all the better and it’s all very harmless.
