While GPS is a marvelous thing there are times in life where it's not quite enough to get you to the place you are looking for. In a business sense, it is vitally important that your customers can find you easily. POCode was designed originally when the developers were having a meltdown while trying to find a potential customer using only their GPS to find them. They longed for a map or some other foolproof way of locating their destination and came up with the idea of POCode. Think of it like this. If there are barcodes for things to purchase, and QRCodes for identifying documents and information then why not have a barcode that will always take you to a specific address?
The objective of POCode is to help improve the way people locate you or your business by allowing your friends or customers to see where your location is and to have a better idea of your location before actually making their way to your place. It is an 8 to 12 alphanumeric code (e.g. USA#2U775) that defines a particular location anywhere on this planet and can be used for identifying that particular location wherever you are. The POCode idea came about somewhere in the year 2011 when the developers were, to a certain extent, frustrated with certain GPS units. They were trying to locate a place without a map that was proving extremely hard to locate on their GPS unit. After the ordeal, they decided that a map is very important at least to give us an idea of where the location is and what we should expect to see as we make our way there. With that in mind they created POCode and then realized that they could take the concept even further by providing more information such as coordinates, a place to embed photos that helps to make recognizing a place easier and also a way to ask for directions. POCode is also aimed at removing the language barrier when it comes to signs or street names that are foreign in the English speaking world. Or you can change address and location but your POCode remains the same. All you have to do is just to update your address on POCode using the map pointer. The beauty of POCode is that it’s short and unique and can be displayed in a variety of places such as a business card, a billboard, brochures as well as a variety of advertising mediums.
QR Codes is going to change the way we react to the world when people come to terms with them. POCode is a form of QRCode that, when customers and friends need to find your location, can just key in your code and have a map served up that will deliver a map with your address and even directions on the best way to get there, if you like. Print it on your business card, your advertising or even your social networking pages so that your customers or friends will be able to find you easily. POCode is easy to use, totally free and will probably be a fixture in future advertising.
