Icashbook.com is a simple to use app that more or less does what it says on the tin. Three versions are listed although the personal version is in beta and the accountant version requires contact for more information so is likely to still be in development.
All versions no doubt will pretty much mirror the standard business product which at NZ$19.50 a month is available and the subject of this review.
The emphasis with this app is that you can share the data with trusted advisors, in particular your accountant but equally your business partners as well, who are ‘invited’ by email and given access to whatever level of information you set. One quirky but useful feature in this respect is the “too hard basket”.
From the general schedule of cash in and out transactions, which can be automatically uploaded from bank statements, the app has a simple drag and drop function where you just highlight items and drop them into the relevant category. Anything you’re unsure of can be dragged and dropped into the “too hard basket” where your accountant can pick it up and deal with it.
The system will memorise categories over time but there is also the option to manually set this information.
Budgets can be set and reports generated to show you actual vs. budget. Similarly there is a useful calendar function where you can plot future income and expenditure giving you a cash position forecast to work with.
Labelled as a tool for small businesses, clubs and personal use the app does what it says and that is keep you up to date with your current and potential future cash position.
Conclusion
This is not a complete accounting package by a long way but useful enough if you need to just manage income and expenses and keep the accountant in the loop. It might go some way to reducing his charges too!
