Reviews are supposed to be critical and balanced viewpoints highlighting strengths and weaknesses, but with Y8 Games I really did struggle to find a weakness! I mean, it is a Free Games web site, so, if it offers a good selection of free games without making you jump through hoops or wait for ages for downloads, then it must have succeeded, yeah? Well, it does!

There are literally thousands of games to choose from, and they are all nicely categorised for ease of search. Click on a category (ie, racing games, arcade games, adventure games, FPS games, girl games and even cooking games!) and you get presented with a screen filled with decent sized thumbnail images of each game, making choosing a whole lot easier and less random. In my opinion, this is a far better interface than that offered by rivals, Friv Games. Click on your choice and you are straight into the game! No waiting 30 seconds for a boring video ad, no request for your email address, no insistence on being allowed access to your Facebook data - just gaming goodness delivered to your screen!

Having been a gamer since the 1980's I decided to click on "Cooking Games" as this promised a whole new genre for me...then I randomly selected "Hot Dog Bush"...hilarious! The plot for this little gem has George Dubya ejected from the White House and taking up a job in a hot dog bar. Twenty minutes later I reminded myself that I was supposed to be writing a review, not pushing for an all-time high score, so I reluctantly left George with his customers and came back to the task at hand. 

The list above gives you an idea of the range and number of games, the presentation is neat and very usable. The games can be voted on (did you like it, yes or no?) and game reviews are coming soon.

So, all in all a great site that gives you what you want without asking for you to pay or give up your private details.

Now, back to the hot dog stand to see how Dubya is doing...
