If you’re looking at making credit card and bank account comparisons outside of your own country then you’ll know that the web has historically been a little lacking in its ability to provide this information.
Step forward banksnob.com, a new site that aims to fill this gaping hole by giving users access to all of the important information on credit cards, checking accounts, savings accounts and fixed deposits. For anyone moving away to work then this information could be very useful to know before you touch down in a strange city.
Still in beta, the site is looking to add to the 30 or so countries outside of the US already listed. There are still some obvious omissions however. Whilst you can get a steer on the best rates and fees for cards in places like Pakistan and Ireland there are no records for the United Kingdom. As the home of a not too insignificant financial centerit’s the major European country missing.
That said the finished article should be a good addition to the web. By entering a country name you are taken to a screen where different cards are listed with a default setting sorting them by APR. You then have the option to re-sort by rewards, rating or popular.
The same page allows you to change the product you’re interested in for any country and get a steer on the various bank account options available and a click through allows you to apply directly to the relevant financial institution.
Users can rate the financial service provider from 1 -10 and the results of all ratings are plotted on a heat map. Once again, as the service widens its audience, these ratings will have a lot more significance.
Conclusion
A great concept and the overall look of the site is good and user friendly. A useful addition to the toolbox of people constantly on the move.
