A social network for creatives with more than fifty shades of grey

MinaGrey Creative Gets Smart, Smart...
Review posted Sun 1 Jun '14

Don't panic, MinaGrey is not the follow up to Fifty Shades of Grey! It's far more worthy to me than that poorly written piece of fluff. Let me just say from the outset here. This free, art and writing application is unlike any other app that we've seen before here at the FeedMyApp offices. I guess the best way to describe it is would be as a non-commercial artistic and creative community where musicians, artists, writers and scientists can freely share ideas, concepts and their artistic skills with the rest of the world. It's a social network - run by ... Read more

Review posted Sat 3 May '14

valuable painting in the world a few years ago, it turned the art world on it’s head. The reason for this was that it wasn't painted by Van Gogh, Picasso, Rembrandt or even Bacon. It was a painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt and it catapulted this lesser known artist into the big league. However, his work is still not appreciated anywhere near enough outside the critics and his loyal fans. My Guide to Gustav Klimt is a beautiful looking Android art application that offers an appreciation of this great artist's work that has been put together by long ... Read more

Review posted Mon 13 Jan '14  ·  54 comments

For some reason, there is a problem with most art related online apps and websites. Basically, most look rather pitiful. I can only assume that they are put together by the artists themselves who have no idea how the online audience views them. I guess they use the other side of their brain. So, when a beautiful online art gallery like The Ether Gallery comes along and features a bunch of extremely talented artists and sculptors - it could be time to sit up and take notice. Take your time, relax and click your way through an array of inspiring ... Read more

Anyone who designs things for a living will be able to attest to the fact that often the hardest part of the design process is coming up with the original concept in the first place. After that it’s reasonably plain sailing. Web designers often search through pages and pages of images and designs in magazines and on the internet looking for inspiration to spark an idea. But there is so much information out there that it can become time-consuming trying to find the visual images to inspire them. DesignFaves is a photo, architecture, art and design application for the creative ... Read more

New Design Inspiration A Source of Design Inspiration
Review posted Sat 24 Aug '13  ·  1759 comments

I'm sure any of you designers out there will know only too well that great design is all about the initial inspiration for a project. There is little more satisfying than visualizing a finished image in your head of how the end project is going to look. When that inspiration is there, all is good and all tends to run smoothly, but there is little more frustrating for a designer when it doesn't. Maybe you are stumped for a logo for your project or some type of illustration to make it more eye catching? So, what do you do when ... Read more

Most of the art portals that are to be seen as apps have tended to be rather staid looking affairs that cater purely for the collector. So, it's probably about time that somebody thought about adding a more social element to things and making a place for artists, dealers, potential buyers and agents to all feel at home in. MyArtPlot is such a thing! An art and craft app for creatives of all  types. No flashy gimmicks or groovy graphics. This is an app that exists to be the portal between all aspects of the art industry and makes it ... Read more

Review posted Thu 30 May '13  ·  451 comments

I'll never forget watching the excellent Jodie Foster directed film Little Man Tate and hearing the boy's analysis of Vincent Van Gogh's painting 'Irises.' When asked why the Dutch impressionist master had painted just one white iris in a sea of blue ones, he said simply "because he was lonely" and that changed my whole perception of the painting and I fell in love with his art forever. Van Gogh Art Essentials for iOS brings art to the app store with this virtual museum of Vincent's work that contains hundreds of his masterpieces in high definition as well as detailed ... Read more

Finger Flair Finger Flair iPhone/iPad App
Review posted Sun 3 Mar '13  ·  872 comments

Finger Flair is one of those apps that serve little purpose other than for pure unadulterated fun. This bizarre but artistic mix of music, art and science is a trippy little animation app for iOS that lets you control all the visuals that you put on the screen with just your fingers. You create a bunch of very cool animations and turn it into wallpaper at the touch of a finger or two. Not only that but, as a truly mind blowing experience, you can add some of your own groovy music to play along with it.   Finger Flair ... Read more

London is a very big city and on any given week there is something like 600 concerts to choose from featuring everything from Irish folk to top 40 to the very best classical orchestras in the world. There's also around 30 different theatrical performances playing not to mention the 11000 bars and restaurants at your disposal. So if you are a visitor to the 'Big Smoke,' as it used to be known, it's almost a full time job to research where to go. You could pick up a copy of Timeout and a bunch of other mags or log on ...
