Review posted Wed 23 Dec '15

There was a time when folks used to always have a small notebook or a diary tucked away in their pocket wherever they went. It was vital to keep a note of all those important things like phone numbers and addresses and to write stuff down that you didn't want to forget. At home they might keep a scrapbook to paste in photos and the like or a travel log if they'd been on vacation. I wonder if anyone does that stuff anymore - especially when you can keep all that stuff and more on an app for your iPhone ... Read more

Have your food ready and waiting for you at your favorite lunchtime restaurant

Allset Have your lunch served on...
Review posted Thu 24 Sep '15

One of the more annoying things about eating out at a restaurant is the time it takes between getting there and actually getting your meal. As Tom Petty once said, the waiting is the hardest part. Don't think you are alone though. Most restaurants could probably fit in an extra sitting if they could cut down the time between guests arriving and actually finishing their meal. It's not quite as inconvenient in the evening when diners have more time but if they only have an hour or so for lunch it can get a bit tight, to say the least. ... Read more

Scan on your smartphone to check if your vegan food really is vegan

Vegan Scanner Identify whether a product is...
Review posted Wed 14 May '14

Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal-derived products with an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of sentient animals. Dietary vegans (or strict vegetarians) refrain from consuming all animal related products. This means meat, fish, chicken, eggs, dairy products and all other animal-derived substances. A trip to the supermarket however, often turns into a nightmare for vegans, because of the often confusing ingredient labeling on many of the items. Vegan Scanner lets you scan the item's barcode with your iOS or Android's camera and get information about the product.   As a vegan, when in ... Read more

Review posted Sun 2 Mar '14

The first thing you are going to notice about this fun new game for iOS6 and later is its beautifully stylized and very unique cartoon characters. And it's this uniqueness - evident all the way through the game - is what makes it so interesting. Supperhero is a deliberately lo-fi, turn-based game that uses simple strategic game play to raise an army of superheroes to defeat the villain - a smelly fridge and it's evil contents. In an interesting twist, the game gives users the opportunity to use calorie consumption to further their success and they must plan the best ... Read more

Review posted Sat 7 Sep '13

To me, the hardest thing about cooking dinner is actually coming up with the idea of what to eat in the first place. I have no problem with knocking something up in the kitchen but it is that touch of inspiration that's generally needed to stir me into action. That's why a food, recipe and cooking application like Recipe Kitchen is such a useful thing to have around. It's a beautiful looking app for iOS that offers over 100,000 searchable and easy to find recipes. Where this differs from many similar food apps is by providing a barcode scanner where ... Wine Maps Conveniently carry your wine...
Review posted Sun 2 Sep '12

While the world wine market is a little in the doldrums right now it has been suggested that the recent drought conditions in certain parts of the US will produce smaller and tastier grapes. According to the experts, this could lead to a potential great year for American winemakers as the intensity of flavor in the smaller grape is essential to make a better wine. But does it really matter where a wine is produced? Do you pay attention to the waiter when he tells you about the region  (and sometimes the hillside when you come up against one of ... Read more
