splitr Enjoy sharing your music
Review posted Wed 8 May '13  ·  1 comment

You see it every day with school kids on the bus or train on the way to or from school. There will always be a couple of best friends with an earphone from the same device plugged into their ear listening to music. You've got to hope that they both like the same kind of music. But what if one of them is into the abrasive sounds of someone like Skrillex and the other likes the smoother sounds of Beyonce? How do you get around that? One song each, maybe? Well now this new music sharing application called splitr has ... Read more

What if someone had offered free Facebook shares way back then?

GlobAllShare: Social Network of the future The best way to earn and share
Review posted Tue 30 Apr '13  ·  14 comments

If somebody had asked you to get involved with an online social network called Facebook all those years ago do you think you would have taken it any further? If you did, of course, you would probably be sitting pretty right now. So if a new social network was about to start up that has something new to offer and offered you the chance to get involved during the pre-organizational stage, would you be interested? You'd be crazy not to look at it. GlobAllShare claims to be the future of social networking. It also offers the chance for early subscribers ... Read more

A next generation wedding album where you can see all the photos taken at your wedding.

Review posted Tue 16 Apr '13  ·  2 comments

How could we possibly pass up on the opportunity to review a wedding photo app with a name as brilliant as AppilyWed. Believe me, there are some pretty average names out there for apps but this one is perfect. So does the app live up to the name, you ask? Well, luckily enough, this is an app that offers something new in the wedding photos concept. Up till now, this type of app has tended to be simply an online version of a traditional wedding album. Hardly a reason to switch formats as the traditional book style wedding album wins ... Read more

Warp your photos into cool caricatures

Photo Deformer Create your own crazy photos!
Review posted Wed 6 Mar '13  ·  5 comments

Ah well, it seems that everyone wants a wacky photo in their collection. Most cameras on your computer seem to have a few filters these days to warp our photos into almost unrecognizable bastardizations. Some of us just share them with their friends for a laugh while some find it a good way to produce a profile picture that is not only funny but also disguises them a little. Photo Deformer is a new photo editing app for smartphones that lets you warp and deform your photos and turn you portrait into a caricature of your former self.   Photo ... Read more

An event checklist where everyone gets to have their say

My Event Checklist Essentially a social packing...
Review posted Fri 5 Oct '12

I guess the mark of a checklist is that it acts in a Wiki fashion by allowing more than one person to have access to it and be able to collaborate and contribute to the information in it. And if that is the criteria then My Event Checklist qualifies without any problems. This social event sharing application allows multiple collaborators to add and update their lists and can be used from anything from a dinner party for a birthday to a live sporting event. My Event Checklist lets everyone see and contribute to the event they are invited to.   ... Read more

There has not been a huge amount of new innovation in newspapers for quite a few years unless you count their shrinking sizes and circulation. However, there is one new trick that you might have noticed recently. Have you seen those little tags attached to stories or pictures in your newspaper or magazine that are interactive? When you scan them with your smartphone you are taken to other related links and multimedia content that explains the story more. Taggstar is a new social publishing and sharing application that turns your two dimensional web page into a third dimension multimedia platform ... Read more

How far away is that storm, Tiger?

Review posted Tue 18 Sep '12

There are apparently some 25 million lightning strikes in the US every year with around 400 people struck by lightning strikes and many of them on the wide open fields of sporting events. The most dangerous place to be, of course, is on the golf course where golf addicts always seem to want to play one more hole before the weather really kicks in. Now, I was always told you count five seconds for every mile that the storm is away, after the  lightning strike and when the thunder sounds. Storm Distance Calculator works on this theory and, with a ... Read more

Localize your social media posts

Sunlize Share and spread anything...
Review posted Fri 31 Aug '12

The way you share information through your social network can, at times, be a little flawed. It's all very well if the story you are trying to tell is specific to your social friends but what about if you want to get your message across to people in your local area for advertising or promotional purposes? You could fiddle with your Facebook settings and send your message to local friends and hope they pass it on or you can turn to something a little more specific. Sunlize offers a different way of spreading the word through your local area and ... Read more

Glassmap The coolest way to show your...
Review posted Mon 2 Jul '12

When you think about it, Glassmap owes as much to the Starship Enterprise as it does to evolving geolocation technology. All this comprehensive GPS and communication application needs to complete it is a button that says "Beam me up Scotty" and it would fit nicely on Spock's utility belt. Glassmap goes under the title of a geolocation device but, in reality, it's way more than just that. Not only does it let you share your exact location with friends but there are also tools to share photos in real time, co-ordinate meetings, chat messaging and VoIP. In fact, pretty well ... Cool stories one chapter at a time

Review posted Wed 6 Jun '12  ·  11 comments

The concept behind this free social writing and sharing application came originally from the Japanese phenomenon known as ‘Keitai Shousetsu‘ – literature distributed through texting. But instead of texting, the writers of Movellas publish their novels, diaries and poems online and one chapter at a time. Itt gives you access to thousands of stories instantly that you can read via iOS, tablet or e-reader and then interact with the author and fellow social friends about their stories or writing in general. If you are a writer,  Movellas gives you a great place to display your skills and enthrall other readers. ... Read more
