Citydoping NYC Get high on NYC
Review posted Tue 5 Mar '13

New York is so good they named it twice, according to Frank Sinatra. There has been so much written about the place over the years and it is still one of the must-visit cities in the world. Every travel application features it amongst their top cities but most of them just show you the highlights and obvious tourist places. While its essential to touristy visit places like the Brooklyn Bridge, the Chrysler building and the Statue of Liberty it is just as interesting to see the stuff the locals see. CitydopingNYC is a new iOS app created by New Yorkers ... Read more

The Wikimedia Foundation have built a reputation over the last twelve years as being an excellent interactive reference for everything from Civil War battles to reality TV shows. Let your Facebook friends find your next vacation for you

Roam7 A better way to get travel...
Review posted Thu 22 Nov '12

How many Facebook friends do you have? I bet you have at least a hundred and maybe a whole lot more and I'm sure they travel all over the world and share their photos and the stories of those trips  with their friends. So why not take that concept to its logical conclusion by utilizing all that information they are sharing and use it to plan a trip of your own? Roam7 is a travel and review application that helps you choose your next vacation destination based on your friends' recommendations rather than on a travel guide written by 'experts' ... Read more

Use Facebook to geolocalize your hunt for those Louboutin shoes

Facearound Explore the world around you!
Review posted Sat 17 Nov '12  ·  1 comment

One of the big problems with new startups is that, even though the developers have come up with a brilliant concept, the app really can't take off without having plenty of members to input information. Quite often, an app really won't hit it's straps until a year or so into its life - if it lasts that long. With Facearound you don't get that problem because it is directly tied to Facebook and draws on a lot of their members' information while encouraging its own members to get involved too. What this iOS app does it to geolocate all the ... Read more

Get planners with local knowledge to plan your trip

tripnirvana Marketplace for trip planning
Review posted Tue 4 Sep '12

TripNirvana could be described as the vacation planner for the lazy holiday-maker but that really wouldn't be doing it justice. Where this app differs from the many other travel guides is in its personality and personalities. TripNirvana have teamed up with over 500 travel experts to provide a personalized holiday marketplace anchored by the knowledge and expertise of the experts that come along for the ride (er...not literally but certainly  in spirit.)  Just build a skeleton of the trip you wish to take and TripNirvana will connect you with a planner with local knowledge to make sure your trip fulfills ... Modify Yelp to find road trip restaurants on your route

On Our Way Never leave your route for...
Review posted Tue 14 Aug '12

On Our Way was developed by a couple of foodie guys after one specific road trip on the 1-5N from San Diego to San Francisco proved to be underwhelming on the food front. While they knew there had to be great restaurants around in this superb food area of California, Yelp wasn't coming up with them. On Our Way is a free travel and food application that uses Yelp as its basis along with Google Maps and reviews and recommendations to deliver great restaurants along the way.   On Our Way is a fun and easy way to find places ... Review posted Fri 15 Jun '12

With millions likely to visit Great Britain in the next few months for the Olympic Games having a travel app like mx Great Britain guide on their mobile is going to come in very useful. But there's probably one tool provided here that will come in even more useful than the others. And to add to that mx Great Britain guide is completely free.   While there are plenty of travel ... Read more

How to see your road maps when you're not online

MapsWithMe app Offline maps. Best travel...
Review posted Sun 27 May '12  ·  1 comment

MapsWithMe is what could be described as an almost masterpiece as a travel app for iDevices and iOS. Don't get me wrong - I love the idea of having a map app that you don't need an Internet connection to access and, believe me, there are times in my road tripping life that it would come in really useful to have a detailed map in front of me whilst negotiating the one way streets of San Francisco with only a wifi iDevice to navigate by. How this travel guide and GPS works is by downloading the relevant map and detailed ... Read more
