AidMaid is one of those apps that one hopes neither you nor your friends will ever need to use. I guess that's a strange first line for a review but, if I told you that it's a personal alarm and tracking app, I'm sure you'll come around to my way of thinking. As I'm sure you are aware, these are dangerous times. In some neighborhoods around the world, you can be taking your life in your hands every time you walk home at night. However, with the AidMaid Trusted Companion app on your Android or iOS, you'll be able to contact a hero nearby in a matter of seconds if you think you might be in danger. AidMaid not only helps in personal safety, it also goes some way to enforcing values of community service and caring and helping. It aims to encourages the user to become a watchdog for personal safety and to help make sure our neighborhoods and communities are safe places to live in.

By pressing the 'panic' button or simply shaking your phone, AidMaid will immediately post an alert onto the AidMaid alerts page, send a message out to your selected friends, call the police while activating  a loud siren. If you find yourself in an emergency situation, friends, family members and nearby heroes will immediately know your exact location and will easily be able to track your movements - wherever you are - and race to your rescue. If you are in unfamiliar territory, there's even a 'crime' option that warns you if you are close to a high crime area. As you are moving around, you just have to open the map to discover areas with high or low crime rate so you can avoid any dangerous areas that you might not be aware of.

AidMaid will be a relief to parents who will have their worries about their kids minimized when that inevitable request to go to a late night party comes long. Rather than fretting all night about whether their youngsters might be in danger or roaming along unfamiliar streets, they can just use the AidMaid app to keep a track of their journey and destination. Effectively, you can be with them the whole way. They can even live stream their journey and show you exactly where they are going and what they are doing. All they have to do is push the 'shield' button or the 'live stream' option and they are immediately connected.

As a trusted contact you will be able to come to the rescue of people who might be in trouble and be the hero of the hour. You can stay on alert and see when someone nearby you is in trouble simply by using the map or the 'discover' page. You will be able to see immediately if there is anyone in or around your neighborhood who has pressed the 'panic' button and who might be in need of your help. All you have to do is to press the 'track' button and you can follow their journey and help them.

The general aim of this personal tracking app for iPhone, IPad, iPod touch and Android is to make our neighborhoods safer and more pleasant places to walk around, at any time of the day or night. AidMaid's tracking and live streaming options are designed to track everyone from kids to grandparents and have even been used by insurance companies in some instances. Rather than using similar apps that allow you to send a message out purely to your designated people, AidMaid enlists the help of ANYONE in your area if you think you might be in trouble. As you can imagine, this is a major bonus if you are in unfamiliar territory or in a different city and your contacts are a long way away. Let's hope you'll never have to use AidMaid but, you know what they say. It's better to be safe than sorry.
