Once you install the app, you will be asked to enter details of four buddies who will automatically and instantaneously receive an instant email showing your Google mapped position if you are unlucky enough to be in the vicinity of a quake over 5.5. You can also manually post your details to Facebook and Twitter. On a more sombre note, Earthquake Buddy also allows you to record a special video/audio message to be sent to your loved ones should you not be found after a quake. It also includes tips in a quake and a bright torch to help guide you after a quake.
If you have friends of family or were planning to visit places like Northern Italy or New Zealand at the moment you would be wise to invest in a GPS tracking application for your own safety and for your family's mental health. I can't imagine anything more terrifying than the thought of being buried under rubble and debris in an Earthquake ravaged town or city. Earthquake Buddy is a very useful (and potentially life saving) app that you can keep on your mobile that will inform your friends where you can be located in the event of an eruption.
