In the past wiki family trees had to be coded by hand via the instructions at Wikipedia Family Tree Template, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Family_tree. Following the instructions makes for nice flow charts resembling the family tree charts one might be accustomed to seeing. However the coding as the template warns "...employs intricate features of template syntax..." which presents quite a learning curve and dissuasive force to genealogy Wikipedia authors who might have wanted a graphical display of their data in an article.
This service and Sourceforge project solve that issue. Trees in wiki template code are generated automatically. Also written into the PHP coding is the templates limit of "80 unnamed parameters", which will produce an error if your family tree is too large for a wiki page to handle.
