It never ceases to amaze me how the advent of the internet seems to have brought with it a complete change in many peoples attitude towards asking for cash. In the days of pen and paper I wonder just how many men would have written to friends, and friends of friends, asking them to chip in and pay for a wedding as a surprise for a deserving partner?
I suppose many would argue that the sheer cost of stationery and postage would outweigh any benefit but now the internet is here it seems fair game for anyone as long as the cause or goal in question is legal.
Don’t get me wrong, gofundme.com has an awful lot of fundraisers doing fantastic work for great causes worthy of anyone’s charity. It’s also a good looking site with all of the features you would expect to see.
Fundraising pages can be created and customized with the story behind the appeal and then communicated to the world via social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Regular updates on progress can be added and all donations are immediately notified by email. Details of them also appear on the fundraiser dashboard.
