It never ceases to amaze me just how many people play games on their phones as we all commute to and from work each day. It's hard not to peek over a shoulder and watch as their fingers and brains work overtime in the morning and evening travels. Games like Candy Crush and Angry Birds are still pretty popular but there's always the odd one that surprises me because I haven't seen it before as I 'eavesdrop.' Sometimes, you see a game that looks like it could be the next 'big thing' and that's where this games comes in.

Jump Down is a free game for Android and iOS that has been around for a few months now and is getting a reputation as the next goto commuter game. It's bright and colorful, it has great music and sounds, squillions of levels, addictive gameplay and, to top it all off, you don't have to have an Internet connection and be online to play. In the short time that it's been on the market the game has garnered thousands and thousands of downloads.

So, what's it all about? The premise is pretty simple. It starts off as a easy little jumper where you need to keep your wits about you as you leap from one step to another and avoid the thorns and flames as you manoeuvre your way from tile to tile. It's just a precursor though because, if you mess up, you'll have to start all over again. Pretty soon you'll get the hang of it and you'll be jumping at faster and faster speeds and through a ridiculous amount of levels. There are an unlimited amount of challenges and daily rewards to keep things interesting.  One thing's sure with this game...you'll never get bored.

The controls are easy to handle and the game has very smooth gameplay and it's literally a one-tap game. You just have to keep your wits about you as you go but you'll get the hang of it pretty easily. It's one of those games that's simple to play but not quite as easy to master as the levels get faster and faster as you go. Visually, the game is bright, rich and colorful but the graphics are pretty basic so they won't take up a heap of RAM space and the music and sound effects complement the gameplay nicely.

While Jump Down gives the impression that it's a kids game, it's fine for players of all ages. And when you see this many 5 star ratings for a new game you know that it's going to be pretty good and pretty successful. It's always a bit scary when you see that a game has this many levels but, don't worry, after half an hour of playing you'll realise you're at level twenty five and it's all plain sailing after that. You'll just have to speed up your reflexes, that's all. The developers are constantly updating the game with new features, themes and designs to make it even more thrilling. This addictive and fun game is available for free right now for iPhone, iPad and Android from the relevant app store.
