Pinterest could well be the next social networking site to take off - following nicely in the footsteps of Facebook and Twitter. And the reason for that is that it is not only totally addictive but it's good too. This photo, video and memory share application is virtually pinboard for all the stuff that you love and want to share socially with others. Think of it as a virtual bookmarker that displays all the things you love in a beautiful interface and then let's you share it with your friends.
Pinterest is a virtual pinboard and social photosharing app that allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. The service allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections and people use Pinterest to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Pinterest users curate themed image boards, populating them with media found online using their very own downloadable "Pin It" button. Each media item is known as a "pin" and can be a picture, a video, a discussion, or a monetary gift. Pins can be grouped into "boards", which are sets of pins created on a given topic. Pinterest is a bit like scrapbooking brought up to date and into the 21st Century. Use it to gather decorating ideas together in one place or plan a wedding and have family and friends leave comments and suggestions. You can use it at work as a virtual sketch and ideas pad which can be shared with your colleagues or at home to collect all your favorite recipes and dinner ideas in one place. Pinterest's goal is to connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting. They think that a favorite book, toy or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. And with millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.
If you are a fan of the award-winning Flipboard application you are going to love Pinterest. It looks a million dollars, it's easy (and very addictive) to get sucked into other people's pet projects whether they be their Grand Canyon road trip photos or ideas for color scenes for their new house. It may be a place you can collect and display your hobby and show everyone else your collection of Tiffany lampshades or chocolate wrappers from the 60's. Whatever it is it really tells you as much about the user as anything insight into someone else's soul. Pinterest is a lot of free fun.
