Diabetes mellitus is one of a group of metabolic diseases where the body produces high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period of time. If left uncontrolled and untreated it can lead to serious long-term complications including heart disease, stroke, chronic kidney failure, foot ulcers and eye damage. In 2015 it was estimated that over 400 million people worldwide had a form of diabetes - which is over 8% of the world's population. The disease more than doubles the risk of early death and between the years 2012-15 it was estimated that between 1.5 and 5 million deaths could be attributed to the disease. Prevention and treatment involves maintaining a healthy diet and regular physical exercise.

Prediabaid is a new health and fitness app for iOS that gives you a mobile solution to manage your day and continue to lead a healthy life. It is part of a program that has been put together by the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control  (CDC) and uses daily customized videos - often featuring renowned actors  - to help you change the way you eat and exercise. The videos combine entertaining animations and solid advice from experienced coaches and aim to become a part of your daily routine.

The app concentrates on five major prevention tools and customises them to your health profile, risk level and eating habits. First up it will ascertain what you eat, when you eat and how much you eat. Secondly comes the detox break which focuses on easily digested foods to put your metabolism and digestive system at rest. Dietary transformation is up next where you'll receive personalized menus to fit your nutritional needs and food preferences. This includes advice on certain foods that should probably be cut from your daily diet. These include cheese, bread, wine and beer. Finally, there's a lifestyle maintenance component that helps you maintain momentum and keep you on the path toward a healthy lifestyle.

Data is collected through your connected device to make your journey to better health a seamless and simple one - making it easier for you to stay on track. All you have to do is to add your own personalised and customized gourmet diet plan and an effective exercise plan and you have a 100% mobile solution to help you to continue to live a healthy life. You’ll have wireless data smart technology at your fingertips, keeping you on track and ahead of type 2 diabetes. You'll also have a pedometer to track your daily activity, a glucometer to monitor your blood sugar level and an impedancemeter scale to record your body transformation.

You can use Prediabaid as the control center for the new you. The app combines data science and app technology to give you daily support every step of the way. Your activities are synced and analyzed by experts in the field to provide you with customized guidance to achieve your health goals. As soon as you interact with the app your progress is automatically tracked in real-time. This means that there is no extra information needed and you can get on with the rest of your day while the app does all the work. Your personal coaches will review your daily feed and provide you with the support and sound advice that you need to keep you motivated.

Changing the way we live is often the most difficult part of our make up. We are creatures of habit by nature, after all. However, Prediabaid's most powerful weapon is probably best contained in one of its slogans. It claims that the app is the powerful health tool that you need to transform those negative thoughts of “I can't" into a much more positive “I will." You'll start every day with a diet and an exercise plan and your online coaches will do everything they can to monitor your progress and encourage your actions. According to federal health officials, only 11 percent of the estimated 86 million Americans who are at risk for type 2 diabetes know that they are at risk. So, maybe it's a good idea to get yourself checked out and start 2017 with a new attitude. Prediabaid is available now for iPhone, iPad and all the other iOS devices on the App Store right now. Still not sure? Try the three week free trial to see if it's right for you.
