TheCovr is a crowd-sourced platform for cover songs, designed to be built by you - so post your favorites, vote up the good ones, and create and share your own custom playlists. Like country versions of rap songs? Acoustic takes on 90’s pop? We guarantee you that somewhere out there, probably in some smoky dorm room, there are mind-blowingly talented artists just waiting to be found.

There used to be a covers band based in London a few years ago called Gabba who featured a hugely tall singer and performed Abba songs in the style of The Ramones - ie fast! I was always convinced that it would turn into a music genre that would take hold. Imagine doing all the Bob Dylan songs in the style of Bob Marley or maybe Kanye West songs in the style of Taylor Swift (can't wait for that one.) Sadly it didn't really take off but the fate of the cover version was taken up by shows like Glee, American Idol and The Voice and we all know how popular those shows have become. The Covr is a fun, social music application where you can submit, vote on and share great cover versions of songs and see what sort of musical talent is really out there but not on TV.
Shows like American Idol and The Voice are great shows for displaying the vast amount of undiscovered musical talent that is out there. The only problem is that the winners tend to be a little... well, lets call them a little predictable maybe... and there aren't many spots up for grabs each series. The fact is, there is a vast array of talent out there that never sees the light of day. You only have to search an artist and song on YouTube to see some of the great singers and bands who have posted their cover versions of well known (and not so well known) songs. The Covr is a crowd-sourced platform for cover versions of songs and has been designed to be built by the viewer or listener. Post your favorites, vote up the good ones and create and share your own custom playlists. Maybe you like the idea of Abba covered by The Ramones or are looking for country versions of rap songs - not so likely but you never know. What you can be sure of though, is that you can be guaranteed that every genre will be covered out there somewhere. The fact is, there is a massive amount of talent out there just waiting to be found. The Covr was created to give voice to all the talented artists out there who are rocking out in basements, cafes and studios (or in their own bedrooms, if it comes to that) that have put their unique touch on familiar songs. This fine app makes it easy to listen to, vote on and discover the best covers the internet has to offer. If you are an artist you can submit on the Artist's page where you can post content, connect with your fans and link to iTunes, Songkick and Bandcamp etc.
The Covr is another good addition to the vast array of music apps but offers something different from most of the others. This easy to use and rather good looking app gives a chance for exposure for a multiple of artists to showcase their talents out there in the great wide world. But not only that but it is also a great place to discover talent in just the same way that shows like Idol orThe Voice does. Vote for your favorites and connect with the artists and find your favorites - lets not forget that the people featured here are just one song away from being stars. All it takes is one song. Check songs by genre or create or listen to cover playlists made by others. As the app says...listen, vote and discovr.
