There has been plenty of talk about this travel site in recent months with a successful round of fundraising and a revamp completed in February of this year (2011) and more recently a partnership deal signed with The New York Times.

Wanderfly is an interesting addition to the travel planning tools available on the web and can be of great use if you are undecided about where to go. OK so a lot of people might only approach this type of site once they’ve got a destination in mind but for those of you that haven’t it could open your eyes to some places of great interest that you may never have considered.

From the dashboard it’s easy to set out your top priorities in order for the site to come up with relevant suggestions. The list includes things such as outdoors, history, nightlife and food along with shopping and luxury. For the really adventurous there is of course always the extreme option.

Slide bars will then let you enter your overall budget, time of trip and preferred length of stay. You can of course be more specific in terms of where you want to go and exact dates.

Results will be displayed on thumbnails along the top of the screen with a brief summary shown below and an estimated total cost. From there you are able to drill down and see the fine detail about things to do, hotels available and flight information for each of the suggested destinations.

Users can book through the site and Orbitz and Hotels.com are the partners responsible for this aspect of the service. Even if you don’t book it will certainly give you some ideas for your next trip along with plenty of useful travel information.

Conclusion
This could bring life back to the old game where you shut your eyes and stick a pin in a map. The great thing about this way though is that you get your flights, hotels and local information included as well.
